The Knutt House quests have been updated. It's been over 10 years since this quest was released and was somewhat dated. The Knutt House is basically the Marapets staff room, where the marapets staff who go crazy from the constant server errors and complaints from players end up and are fed nuts from the Nutty Tree. The original joke/theme of this quest remains the same but we agree that the word 'mental' isn't really appropriate anymore - it's great to see how far mental health awareness has come in the past decade!
The Mental Costume has been renamed to the Staff Costume and the Staff Knutt has been revamped. This change was due many years ago but other costumes were on the revamp list first! The rest of the staff pets will be revamped shortly and more pets will soon be able to wear this costume. As always on Marapets, nothing here should ever be taken too seriously and if you are easily offended with any of the (bad) attempts at humour on here, maybe we are not the site for you!
@Silenter a lot of those were costumes weren't changed to be more PC or whatever, they literally couldn't be made cute and it was better to replace them
The year is 2653 and after the massive radioactive spill of '45 I believe the Mutant Costume to be incredibly offensive.
The Mutant Astro in particular is incredibly insensitive due to the nipple arms. How can you be so heartless Ian. To make fun of my nipple arms like this. I refuse to fund this place of such blatant, vile, hatred. I shall take my business elsewhere.
Having mental health problems myself, I was NEVER bothered by the mental costume. Maybe because I was heare when it was relased, maybe because I found it funny, but whatever the case I don't see a problem.
Just because people are offended by one thing doesn't mean they're easily offended. And why is being offended in the default wrong? That feeling serves a purpose. I'd be offended if someone walked into my house and pooped on my floor. Am I wrong for being offended by that? :U
And no, I do not think being offended by one thing will lead to an apocalyptic "EVERYTHING MUST GET CENSORED" event on this site. That's called a slippery slope argument.
I still think of the costume as the mental health equivalent of blackface (which is a style of comedy, so yes, jokes don't always get a special shield from criticism). I get that it's a game, but if Marapets is worth praise for what it does right, it too deserves criticism for what it does wrong. Otherwise, why play or talk about Marapets at all, if nothing it does matter? If it's not worth being offended by, it's not worth defending.
Most disappointing of all are the unprofessional jabs from staff. I understand they don't see it the way I or other users who don't like this costume do. Users that disagree with you are still your customers and are fans of the site. I understand that the 'debate' gets under your skin, but staff should remain impartial to their user base.

As a person with mental illness who requires medication and therapy, I have absolutely no problem with the Staff Costume. Or the Mental Costume.
As a player that buys stuff with real money, I have absolutely no problem with @Ian explaining his point of view. I do not see this as unprofessional, on the contrary!
This lets me know that he is aware of us as people, and is trying to connect to us.
Thank you for changing this, I know I've complained in the past, and I appreciate the renaming of the costume, it's great way to address it without removing the costume and art entirely.
EDIT: I understand why some people aren't offended by this particular costume. Some people see and view things differently. I'm not gonna tell someone who isn't offended by the costume that their argument or feelings are invalid, that would be stupid. So rather than going "aoefusief why would ANYONE even be upset?!?!?!?" maybe look at it from another perspective :thumbsup::blush:
