Thanks staff for all of your work to restore the victims’ accounts. Shame on the person who carried out the attacks.

it is nice to have an update. although i was expecting one more along the lines of what's being done about the compromised accounts and what players should be aware of. this feels more like an accusation toward the players whose accounts were compromised. if passwords and privacy are an issue, shouldn't we have it set up so that passwords have to be a certain strength when you sign up? this is a site that a lot of younger people play. how is a kid supposed to know what a strong password is?

dang. if a young one makes a weak password b/c they don't know any better and their account gets hacked into, you're not gonna help em? that's pretty harsh. just saying... i'm definitely grateful toward the staff that are still working hard on this issue. i can't wait til their work is done.

Considering the system was able to determine what are passwords were and send out messages according to the parameters that were set, the passwords seem to be saved in plain text. If a password were saved it plain text it doesn't matter if it's gyudfgk83n3n89ml or LimpingPotato5, they can both still be gained through the server. If the passwords are encrypted now, then my argument is null, and I don't know what I'm talking about, since it's changed. Though, I do feel like it's a bit extreme and agree with Dahlia entirely. This affects younger players in a negative way if they don't know any better and even join after this news update drops off the front page.

These are really good points. Plus, I'm a little concerned about what happens if your account is compromised despite all our attempts to protect it. While rarer than just weak passes, hacks can happen. Can we still ask staff for help?

Definitely agree with @Dahlia here. Victim blaming is absolutely not what a website with respectable staff should do and is actually a major red flag. And saying users can't rely on staff is very, very counterproductive. But hey, what do I know, I'm just a user, right? Not like I've got six years' experience with petsite customer service.
