Chapter 6: Audition

As I walked downstairs I heard faint laughter coming from the kitchen. It was the same angelic laugh and dazzling chuckle I had heard all my life.

"What's so funny?" I asked my parents as I entered the kitchen. Like yesterday, my breakfast had been laid out on the table for me. Omelets.

"Nothing, Nessie," Edward told me, his arm wrapped around Bella's waist. I smiled at the happy couple.

"So Nessie, I was wondering what made you hate your clock so much to destroy it?" Bella giggled, Edward chuckled again. I rolled my eyes.

"It was that stupid beeping. Anyway, who set it? I was in the middle of a good dream," I asked them.

"Sorry, it was me. I thought that maybe you'll sleep in a little later than usual because you woke up again in the middle of the night," Bella explained. "You might have missed school so I
set the clock. You know there was a button at the back that said 'off'?"

I rolled my eyes again.

"So today's the big day, huh?" Edward commented but it came out more of a question. I gave him a confused look. "The audition?"

"Oh shoot, I completely forgot!" I said in shock. Good thing I had changed it to 'oo' from 'i'. Though I had heard Bella and Jake say it many times (not Edward, he was 'old fashioned'wink.gif I
didn't know how they'd feel about a 6 year old saying it.

"Don't worry, you know the notes perfectly," Bella reassured. "I'll go get your guitar and its case from upstairs." With that she walked at human speed out of the room. I wondered why she didn't just go normal speed (by that I meant normal for vampires) then I realized I was alone with Edward.

"Dad, I'm so sor-" I was cut off when he pulled me into an unexpected hug.

"Do not apologize Renesmee Cullen," he said in a harsh voice when he let me go. "It is I that should be apologizing for the way I treated you. I didn't trust you and thought you weren't
responsible but unmistakably you are more responsible than me. I could see that the way you were able to calm down yesterday when Bella asked you to." He smiled to himself then continued, "You are very similar to your mother, not just by your appearance. You were born more mature than you should have been, at least 10 years older then you should be." We both laughed at his poor sense of humor.

A thought popped up into my mind. Bella knew Edward so well in some ways...

"What are you thinking?" Edward asked. I laughed slightly; wasn't that what he always used to ask mom?

"Mom knows you well," I answered. "You always blame yourself for everything.???Oh no, Nessie's just robbed a bank, it's my entire fault.' 'Oh no, Nessie is bullying someone at school, it's my fault.' 'Oh no, Nessie just failed all her subjects, it's all my fault.' Wasn't I the one who tried to attack you?"

Edward shook his head at me. "No, Nessie, it really is my fault. I was the one who jumped to conclusions. And all the examples you just said, if they happened - which they won't because a: we can buy you anything you want, b: you're one of the kindest, sweetest person I've met and c: I've taught you enough for you to achieve an A in every subject - it would be my fault too because I'm supposed to care for you and teach you how to behave and be a good role model but there I was, starting an argument on a small assumption."

"You know what they say, when you assume you make an ass out of you and me," I told him trying to change the conversation away from the horrible subject. He caught on and let me finish eating my breakfast.

"So here you are, I've put your guitar in the backseat of your car," Bella said walking into the kitchen.

"Thanks I should get going," I swallowed the disgusting medicine and kissed both my parents on their cheeks. "If I get in to the club I'll be a little late coming home, the orchestra practice every Tuesday."

"When you get back from practice we'll celebrate," Bella emphasized the words.

I smiled at their support then climbed into my car and drove to school.

When I got there Ryan was there waiting for me. He grinned at me, his pearl-white teeth bright against his dark skin; somehow he reminded me a little of Jacob.

"Hi," he greeted me.

"Hey, how'd you get here so early?" I asked. Not many people were outside.

"My older brother dropped my on his way to morning detention," Ryan answered.

I raised my eyebrow. "You're not much like your older brother are you?" Ryan laughed. I got my guitar out of my back seat and he walked me to building 4, into classroom.

Mr. Morris was there, my Music teacher.

"Hello kids!" he said cheerfully. "Great to see you! So Ms. Cullen, why don't you play us a tune?" I sat down on one of the tables and started playing. At first I was nervous but then I
really got into it. I stopped at the end and slowly looked up at Ryan and Mr. Morris. Their mouths hung open.

"Tha- that's amazing!" Mr. Morris exclaimed. "I didn't know you could play that great! You're defiantly in the club!"

I grinned wildly. "Really? Oh thank you!"

"That was amazing Renesmee!" Ryan said, coming out of shock. The bell rang loudly in my ears. I don't think I'll ever get used to it.

"Oh, I gotta put my guitar back then go to class," I told them as I grabbed my guitar and started to half-walk, half-skip down the hallway. Since it was only the first bell no one was
rushing to class so it was much easier for me to get to my car and carefully place my magical guitar in the trunk.

First lesson: calculus. It was my first time taking it but I didn't think I'll enjoy it. Dad had obviously taken it a thousand times and said he absolutely hated it. I giggled remembering that he wished he could sleep because it was so boring.

The teacher's name was Mr. Bunk. Because I hadn't taken the class yet I had to introduce myself to the students. A few of the girls giggled when I said my name, I just rolled my eyes.
Gloomily, I sat at the front which was only the empty desk. Why doesn???t anyone sit at the front? I wondered. Something in my brain clicked. Mr. Bunk was the one of the worst teachers,
Ryan had told me. Why? I asked. Because when ever he talks, he spits, or in a nicer term sprays saliva everywhere.

This was why the girls were actually giggling; they knew I would have to sit here. Groaning quietly, I shrunk into my seat.

He droned on about the definition of calculus and how important it was but I didn't take any of it in. I zoned out and started doodling in my note book and taking decoy notes at the same time. Before I knew it, it was the end of the lesson.

The days flew by and became months. Suddenly it was December and Christmas break had started.

Ever since I turned 1 I had always spent Christmas Eve at La Push with the packs and their relatives (and now Charlie too). We would eat turkey and sit around the bonfire.

Mom and Dad weren't invited but they didn't take it personally. They didn't, after all, eat real food. Instead they would go quite far to hunt with Edward's family. At first I found it upsetting
that I couldn't spend Christmas Eve with both of sides of my family but at least I got to spend Christmas Day with them.

I woke up Christmas day at 5am, not wanting to miss the fun. I rushed about, quickly showering and getting ready. I knew everyone was waiting at Grandma and Grandpa's house (except Mom and Dad) where all the presents were. They had promised to wait for me to get there before they opened them but they (meaning Emmett) could get very impatient.

"I'm ready mom!" I told her when I ran into the living room where she and Edward where watching 'A Christmas Carol'.

"Excellent! I was getting tired of this movie anyway," Bella said jumping up from the sofa. I was surprised by her appearance; she wore a dark red knee-length dress with long black boots.

"Aunt Alice?" I asked her. She sighed and nodded. It was a reasonable explanation.

Together, our small family of three walked through the ankle deep snow (getting higher and higher) into the larger Cullen household.

"Merry Christmas guys!" Alice greeted us as soon as we walked in.

"Merry Christmas Aunt Alice!" I said. I hugged every member of my family as if I hadn't seen them for months when really I saw them 3 days before.

Years back before I was born and mom hadn't met dad yet the Cullen family didn't celebrate Christmas. Well not that much because they were always moving about. Instead they would go hunting but Aunt Alice would get presents for the family (any excuse to go shopping).

But now it was different. The Cullen family went all out, with a Christmas tree and lots more presents and they even decorated the inside and outside of the house (though not many people would be even see it).

The Christmas tree was like any Christmas tree: very tall, nearly touching the ceiling with a bright star at the top, very wide and dark green. Alice had decorated it with meters of long silver tinsel all wrapped around the tree carefully and neatly with sparkling red and gold baubles hanging.

"Bella, open my present!" Alice shrieked with joy handing mom a large square package wrapped in shiny green wrapping paper and a gold bow.

Bella sighed and ripped the wrapping paper off. She hated getting gifts and had insisted that no one get her anything on her birthday since she no longer aged. She unfortunately forgot to mention holidays too so now every Christmas she was showered with gifts.

Inside she found a glittery silver necklace with a number of diamonds clinging to it.

"I tuned it down this year," Alice told her. Bella smiled at her and gave her a hug.

It went on like this for a while. The lot of us opening our presents and thanking each other.

After New Years on Monday I was back to school. Through the first lessons I was with Jennifer and Ryan. We chattered the whole time about the holiday and what we did. Jennifer went
to Egypt with her family and saw the pyramids. I had travelled a lot with my family for my whole life but we never got to go to Asia or any part of it because of the much brighter beaming sun that would expose us vampires (and hybrids) so I fascinated by what Jennifer described. Predictably she just talked about her holiday romance with a guy named Julian.

My last lesson before lunch was Calculus. Great.

I sat in my usual seat and used my curly brown hair to hide my face from Mr. Bunk's disgusting saliva as it bounced around the room.

I stared at my desk and started writing notes just to block my face. The door creaked open.

"Looks like we have another new student," Mr. Bunk said. I looked up and saw HIM.

He was like nothing I had ever seen. His skin was dark, not like Jake's or Ryan's, but more chocolaty. His hair was dark brown too and curly. Though he dressed like most boys - jeans and a
shirt - he looked smart. And just to clarify, he was drop dead handsome.

Stop it, I thought. I already love Jake. It was just a harmless crush. I stole a peek towards the back and saw all the other girls were staring at him opened-mouthed as well. So I wasn???t the only one thinking like this.

"My name's Lucas," he introduced himself. He handed Mr. Bunk a slip to sign, similar to the one I had on my first day and sat down in the only seat available. Next to me.

The scent came to me in a rush. It smelt a little of human blood but it wasn't appealing at all. It was like the scent of vampire venom and the stench of wolf. I had no idea what it was of but I knew it came off Lucas. I knew he wasn't really human.

The only person who would have been able to make my mother smile right now was her best friend. I wasn't talking about Alice or me or even her soul mate and my father Edward. It was Jake.

He came rushing, surprisingly in human form, to us. He had on a scruffy t-shirt and shorts, so obviously he had not came all the way as a human. He wasted no time and immediately asked what was wrong.

"I was going to your house, you know, to ask about your day at school," he told me. "But before I got in there I didn't smell an ounce of human in your house, just the stink of bloodsucker." Normally Bella would have made Jake pay for using that word but she just sniffed, not moving from her position. Jake noticed this too and his face filled with confusion and even fear.

"What did they do, Nessie?" Jake demanded to know. "What did he do?" By he, Jake meant Edward. He looked at me expectantly then turned to Bella. "Bella?" he asked her, she didn't move. He crouched down so we were around the same height.

"Bella?" he spoke louder. "BELLA! CAN YOU HEAR ME?"

She raised her head and looked deeply into Jake's eyes. For a second I thought she was going to break down again but then she screamed, "YES I CAN HEAR YOU JAKE, I'M NOT DEAF!" Jake started howling with laughter, me joining him; Bella smiled slightly. I knew Jake could make her smile.

"Tell me what happened," Jacob said as soon as he stopped laughing. I sighed and placed m hand on his burning hot cheek, letting the afternoon events fill his mind. At first he was scowling but by the end of it he looked just as furious as Edward.

"How dare that filthy bloodsucker say that to you!" he was outraged. "And to Bella! If only I could-" He stopped in thought and looked at Bella expectantly.

"No you can not!" she told him fiercely.

"Sure, stick up for the monster," Jake grumbled.

"I stook up for this little monster and she turned out perfectly," Bella replied squeezing me fondly.

"Better than perfect," Jake smiled at me.

Jake sat at the other side of Bella, one hand over her shoulder. The heat of his skin kept me warm but must have been burning Bella but she never said a word.

Then she jumped up. I'm guessing she had tried to jump onto her feet but with my arm and Jake's over her she only jumped up and inch.

"Crap, I forget to give you your medicine," she told me and started fumbling with her pocket until finally she got a small white pill out, a little bigger than a tic-tac. I sighed and popped into my mouth, swallowing the revolting taste down.

Bella sighed too and brushed her messy back into an even messier ponytail. "We have to get back."

"No, we don't," I told her. "You told him we'll be back whenever. Anyway, you're still upset."

Yeah," Jake agreed. "You wouldn't want him to see you like this, he'd be mortified... actually, going back may not be such a bad idea. I would like to see the look on his face..."

Bella chuckled. "Seriously, we have to go. Nessie's got school tomorrow."

"Then I'll just go home," I told her. "You still need to calm down."

"Me? You're the one who nearly attacked your own father," Bella mumbled.

"Wish I could've seen that," Jake laughed again. I removed my arm from Bella's shoulder's.

"Stay," I ordered her as she started to stand up. "But come back when you feel better." I turned to look at Jacob. "I'm trusting you, when she comes back she better be jumping for joy."

"Easy peasy," Jake smiled. I turned and ran back to the small cottage that stood waiting for me. I stopped outside it for a moment and took a deep breath. Calm thoughts, I told myself,
calm thoughts. Mom wouldn't forgive me if I hurt dad, even after what he had said.

I opened the front door carefully. Edward was waiting for me standing only 4 feet away from the door, still as a statue until I came in.

"I am so sorry, Nessie," he apologized. "I had no right to say that to you or Bell-" He stopped and realized that mom was not behind me.

"Where's Bella?" he asked.

"With Jake," I answered.

"What?" he hissed. "Why did you-"

"He's cheering her up!" I shouted then stomped up the stairs into my room.

I was panting by the time I got there but I had no idea why. Before I did anything else I listened carefully to what Edward was doing. I heard him sigh, maybe even hold his head in his
hands, and mutter, "Think, always think before you speak. You'll end up losing them both."

I gulped. I felt so guilty then. I was the one who started it. Why did I have to eat so quickly? Why did I answer like that when he asked me if I had... I shuddered. Why couldn't I defend
myself? Why had I let my best friend/mother Bella get involved? Why had I lunged for my very own father? And worst of all, why had I been born? I didn't deserve my father's care or protectiveness. I definitely didn't deserve my mother's kindness or generosity or selflessness. She had loved me so much when she was pregnant even though I caused her pain and this was how I re-payed her?

I snapped out of my thoughts, knowing that I shouldn't be thinking like that. "It dosen't matter about the past," Bella had once told me. "It's all about the present."

I took my medicine, brushed my teeth and changed into my pink silk pajamas that Alice had gotten me. I was about to go downstairs to apologise to my dad when I heard the front door open. Mom was home.

She wouldn't have wanted me to eavesdrop so I climbed into my bed and closed my eyes. Slowly, I drifted off.

I'm not sure if it was a dream but I felt cold fingers brush my hair away my face and his cool lips lightly kiss my forehead.

"Goodnight Nessie," dad whispered. "I love you."

"Love you too," I murmured. "So sorry dad." He tucked me further into bed and then all I heard was the door close, or open? I fell deeper and deeper into dreamland.

I suddenly woke up sweating and panting.

"Nessie, what's wrong?" Bella asked concerned. Why was she in my room?

"Sweetie are you okay?" Edward asked softly. He was here too?

"I...um..." my head was spinning and I felt very dizzy. "I was just remembering what happened tonight," I lied, hoping that Bella was still shielding me or else Edward would have known the real reason...

"Don't worry, Nessie," Edward cooed. Yes, she was still blocking me. "Your mother was kind enough to forgive me. I hope you can too."

"I already have," I said. Edward smiled and sang me my lullaby. It was similar to the one he used to sing to Bella before when she still could sleep. Bella sat at the edge of my bed and held my hand until I fell asleep.

I had the same dream. I was running again, the creature chasing after me. But I saw strange bright lights flashing ahead of me. I glanced up quickly and saw not trees or a dark sky, but lights going on and off, hanging from the dull beige ceiling. Just from that view I knew where I was; Forks High School.

Hurriedly, I escaped into one of the nearest classrooms and pushed one of the desk against the door to block it.

I didn't know what I had been thinking. I mean, barricading it with a measly little desk I could pick up with one hand? Obviously that creature could break through. With no other option, I went for the only exit left. The window.

Opening the latch, I climbed out at lightning speed and bounded past the school buildings but then reached to a halt. I had never been into this part of the school yet.

Suddenly the scenery in front of me faded away.
Huh?

I turned to my right, not turning right around in case It saw me. But I was safe - for a moment at least - because I could here the creature still in the school.

To my right one of the building's marked 6 was there, I had had Algebra in there before. I hadn't gone any farther than that yesterday. I turned to face forwards again. Still it was black. I remembered my school map. Wasn't the teacher's parking lot here?

Amazingly, a parking lot appeared. In some of the spaces I saw the name's of some of my teacher's.

Wait! I thought. Wasn't this MY dream? Couldn't I change it? I grinned in excitement - I was finally going to conquer the creature. Before I could turn, though, I heard a beeping noise.

I blinked many times before I opened my eyes for real. Crap. Back to reality. And I was just about to defeat the Creature.

I noticed the beeping was in truth coming from my bedside clock. I was so brainless, I never knew it had an alarm.

How do you turn it off? I wondered. There must have been a button but I wasn't bothered finding it. I picked the beeping clock off my bedside table then threw it at the hard wooden floor. It shattered into pieces. Bella could always buy me another.

I silently got out of bed and ready for school.

Chapter 4: Arguments

The last bell rang loudly in my ears. I practically ran out of the classroom to the front office. I handed my slip in to Mrs Cope and rushed outside and into my car. I was desperate to go home and tell my parents about my first day of school. I put the car in drive and speeded through the highway going 90mph.

I had really enjoyed today. I had made quite a lot of friends - if you could call them that - and had become best friends with Ryan. He told me to come early the next day and to bring my guitar so I could audition for the orchestra.

I was thrilled by this and only hoped to get. Though I had studied music notes for a long time and could learn thing quickly there was no ignoring the fact I had just gotten the guitar the day before.

I was back at our little cottage in less than 15 minutes. Bella stood on the porch steps waiting for me. I ran to her and flung my arms around her. I then quickly let go in case she thought I had had a bad day of school and was upset.

I put my warm hand against her cold skin and 'showed' her how my day went.

"Orchestra, yeah?" She asked raising an eyebrow. I nodded.

"At least you're fitting in. Not much has changed there has it? Pretty much like my first day there." We walked into our cream-coloured cottage together.

I had loved the house ever since I saw it. It was quite small of course with no second floor but as Bella had once said, it was magical. I was mad when they put in another floor and remodelled the house. But Edward had told me it was because they wanted me to have a bigger room. "And closet," Alice had piped in. And yes there was a door in my room that led me to a magical place filled with clothes from all over the world.

"Hey Nessie," Edward greeted me. He was sitting on the leather couch with Uncle Emmett watching the flat screen t.v of football. I never understood what was so interesting about the sport, you must need a Y chromosome to understand.

"Hey Ness," Emmett said, not taking his eyes of the t.v, not wanting to miss one bit of the action. He must have more Y chromosone's than usual, I thought, if he's so interested in sports and is that muscular.

Thinking of that I remembered Tom from lunch. He was very similar to Emmett: arrogant, strong, sports fan. But unlike Emmett, Tom was quite, well, dumb. And not that imaginative if he was the one who came up with the band name 'The Jocks'. I began to wonder what song he would have played if I went to see his band...

Edward suddenly burst out laughing. Aw crap, he had been listening to my thoughts.

"What?" Emmett and Bella asked in unison. Bella glanced at me and saw my face turning red and sighed.

"Won't you give our daughter a little privacy, Edward?" She told him strictly in the same tone she used when a kid in her class did something naughty.

Bella had recently gotten a job far in Seattle teaching little kids in 1st grade. I, after all, had started school and would be gone most of the day so she filled her day too. Edward had also gotten a job teaching in a high school even farther away. He taught English and posed as a 23 year old, the same with Bella.

"I'm guessing she didn't mention she got asked out on a date," Edward chuckled. I frowned at him; what date?

"Renesmee?" Bella looked at me curiously, biting her lip to fight back her laughter. "Did that..."

"I didn't know he was asking me out on a date!" I defended myself. Emmett had now joined Edward in a laughing fit. "I didn't! He just asked me to see his band perform!"

"Wonder what Jake would say..." Bella said teasingly.

"Mom!" I shouted. The last thing I wanted was for Jake to find out.

"Sorry, sorry!" she apologised, nearly about to laugh out loud. "How about we go upstairs, away from these maniacs." She walked up the stairs, me stomping up behind her, whilst they kept laughing.

I sighed as we entered my room. I slammed the door on their hysteria and scowled. How could I have known it was a date? I'm only 6 after all.

I turned around to face Bella. She wasn't laughing now but looking concerned. "Are you okay, sweetie?" she asked in a soothing tone.

"Yeah, I guess," I told her. "Could you-"

"Already done, honey, no one will be able to hear your thoughts now," she reassured me. My mother had the ability to block all mental abilities like mind-reading. We called her a shield and at first she could only shield herself but now others as well.

"Did you take your medicine?" she asked. I had to take the medicine to slow my growing 5 times a day.

"I took it before I leftt in the morning. I had it again at lunch," I answered. Some of my classmates where very curious when I left 5 minutes before the bell went at lunch to go to the restroom. Nina had suggested she come with but I refused.

"Good," Bella said. "You have to take it again in a few hours and then after dinner-"

"And then before bed," I finished her sentence. "I know mom, I've been taking it for 6 months now. I'm not a kid anymore." We both started laughing at my poor choice of words.

"Seriously mom, I know."

"Well, okay," she said. "Do you have any homework you need help on?"

I groaned. I had forgotten about the piles of homework I had stuffed into my bag. Bella helped me with the homework which actually was very easy for me. Ever since I was born I grew much faster than an average baby. By one week I was already speaking short sentences; in no fewer than 3 weeks later I had taken my first steps; at the age of 3 months I looked like a very big one-year-old. I could even read.

Bella had been very frightened of my rapid growth and wished to savour my childhood as long as possible and was delighted when she found out that they could slow it down. At first I was to take it 9 times a day but then my whole life started to revolve around me not forgetting to take the medicine. Also, when I ate that much of it it turned out I didn't grow one bit.

All my homework was done in 20 minutes and surprisingly I had enjoyed some of it. I had heard around the school that my English teacher, Mrs Smith, was one the strictest teachers at Forks High School. I found this odd because when I had met her she had seemed not strict but kind and gentle in a way. Then I found out that they only thought this because she gave a lot of work and expected very highly of us. School had started just last week and already she wanted us to do at least a page long essay on the some other plays on Shakespeare and what they had in common. I wrote Hamlet and Romeo & Juliet and how at the end all the main characters die. 5 pages long.

"Thats a college level essay, Nessie," Bella told me as she read through it. "You must have gotten your intelligance from your dad..."

"And your beauty from your mother," Edward had sneaked into my room without me even noticing. "Listen, Nessie, I'm sorry-"

"Its okay," I interrupted, I didn't want to bring up the subject again.

"At least let me make it up to you," he said, I sat up straight to show I was interested. "So I heard about you joining the ochestra..."

I stared at him - where was this going?

"Have you chosen what piece you're going to play for the audition?" He asked. My eyebrows squashed together in confusion: I hadn't thought of that.

"I thought not. Would you like me to help?" I smiled at him in gratitude. Edward was the best musician in the family and had taught me everything I know about music.

For the next hour we practised stayed in my parents' room (that's where the piano was) and played different pieces of music together while Bella listened quietly, eyes closed and swaying to the music. She must have started daydreaming, I thought. Vampires didn't sleep but Edward had told me that some would like to, like himself and mom, because they want to get away from the world and reality. Daydreaming was the closest thing they had.

It went on like this for another hour or so after I had my medicane until Edward had to stop and make me dinner.

"No, stay," I begged. "I'll just go hunting later."

He sighed. "You need to eat more human food Nessie. What did you eat for lunch?"

"Some french fries, a salad and a can of Cola," I lied. Really it was just one fry, a bite of celery and a few sips of the drink.

"Seriously Nessie?" Edward glared at me. He knew.

"Mom!" I shouted. Bella suddenly jumped up in a defencive position.

"What?" she glanced around the room looking for the enemy but then drop her position.

"Don't blame your mother, Renesmee Carlie Cullen," Edward glowered at me. Crap, he never called me by my full name. "She is still blocking you. I can see you're lying, its written all over your face." He paused then starting talking in a softer tone. "You know I'm only trying to do what's best for you. You need to get used to eating human food. And I'm making spaghetti bolognaise."

I perked up then, spagetti bolognaise was my favourite, especially when made by Edward. He was a brilliant cook.

As he cooked I watched t.v in my room with Bella. It was a flat screen, the one Emmett and Rosalie had got me. It came with a huge stereo on top of my dresser speakers all around the room, DVD Player, CD player, Satellite T.V, even a few game consoles and a brand new leather sofa. In an average room it would have taken up all the space but not in mine. My room was practically the whole of the 2nd floor apart from the bathroom (which only I used so it was mine too). When you went up the stairs you would see a short passage only big enough for 4 people to stand in (2 Emmetts or 6 Alices) with only one door to the right.

When you entered my room you would see a huge room painted black with a silver border going around the top of the wall; wooden a large window to the right with white curtains; under it a wooden desk with my laptop on top along with a few papers ; on the opposite side the entertainment system and a door leading to the bathroom; in the middle of the room was the couch. If you kept going forward you would see an arch (picture a huge door way with no doors) leading to my bedroom. On the right would be another window the same size with the same curtains but with my bed under it; on the opposite side a door leading to my huge closet with make-up dresser inside; and my bookcase leaning on the wall in front.
On the first floor there was only the kitchen/dining room, living room with t.v, a tiny bathroom (vampires don't need to use the bathroom, that one is just in case a werewolf or human comes by), my parents' small bedroom and even bigger closet mom hardly ever used.

I heard the cutlery cabinet open and knew dinner was ready and Edward was now getting the the silver-ware out. I inhaled and smelt the delicious scent of the spagetti and chilli sauce - it very nearly smelt as good as blood.

Bella wrinkled her nose at the smell. Human food wasn't appealing at all to a vampire.

"Smell good?" she asked me.

"Unbelievably," I answered. "If I was a real human I would be drooling right now."

"Your father's cooking does have that kind of effect on humans," Bella giggled. We both went downstairs and into the kitchen.

Edward had already placed my dinner at the table for me to eat and he was there too reading, Bella sat at the table to join him.

The aroma was stronger in the kitchen and I could taste it without having to take a bite. Unexpectedly my stomach grumbled loudly and I felt ravenous. I ate every single bit of it in 1 minute, the sauce burning my throat. Edward stopped reading and began staring at me wide-eyed and shocked. I gulped down the glass of water next to me then asked him what was wrong.

"You're, um, eating like your mother did..." he answered glaring at me for no apparent reason. Bella looked at him with the same confused expression that I wore. "While we were on our honeymoon," he finished.

I froze - I understood what he meant then. The honeymoon that had ended abruptly when they found out it was me growing inside mom....

"Renesmee," he snarled at me. "Tell me the truth, have you-"

"No, dad!" I screamed with fury. Didn't he trust me? "No I have not and I'm not talking about this any more!"

"Tell me the TRUTH!" he growled.

"Leave her ALONE!" Bella screeched; she swiftly got up and stood in front of me arms stretched out, blocking me from Edward's view. She looked outraged and was fuming. I had never heard her take to Edward like that, ever. "I have already talked to her about thi-"

"What?" he hissed.

"Yes! She needed to know!" Bella defended me. It was true, around a year ago I started to recognise my feelings for Jake; how I never noticed that he came round at least once a day, how he played my silly games with me, went hunting with me, cared for me.... Bella realized too and took me aside to discuss personal matters. It was quite disgusting but she said I needed to know the truth.

"YOU TOLD HER TOO EARLY!"

"NO I DIDN'T!" Bella yelled.

"You filled her head with your stupid human memories!" Edward growled.

That did it. Mom was too tame to do anything about that so I did. Had he forgotten all the pain she went through? I pushed her out of the way and lunged for my so-called-trusting-father.

But Bella was too quick for me and pulled me back, her cold hands gripping my wrist tightly. "I can't BELIEVE YOU SAID THAT!" I spat at him, but he now looked horrified with himself. That didn't change the fact that he had said those horrible words.

Bella gripped my wrists even tighter and whispered to me, "Let's go hunt." I was still glaring at Edward but nodded.

Bella led me to the front door, loosening her pull on me but not entirely letting go. Edward all of a sudden realized that we were leaving. "Wait-" he began to say pleadingly.

"We'll be out hunting, don't come and look for us, we'll be back whenever, I got the pills in my pocket," Bella said in one breath. I noticed her bulging jeans pocket that must have contained it. They would trust me with me big things but not the little....

As soon as we were out Bella let go off me and ran to the forest, me tagging along behind her. We were in the centre of it in merely a few minutes. She left me alone for a brief second, no doubt circling the forest to see if any humans were about. She came back, gave me a quick nod and then ran off again. I took a sniff of the fresh air, smelling the subtle smells of pine
and oak. Bella was going after a few deers, 5 to be exact. I followed my senses and smelt something delicious, bear.

I chased the scent, my thirst unbereable, and found it. The bear was no different from any other, the only sad fact was it was alone, defenceless.

It satisfied my thirst, more or less, so I rushed back to the centre of the forest. Bella was there, waiting for me I thought. Except then I got a good look at her. She was sitting cross-legged on the wet grass, her long curly hair in tangles, her arms clamped over her chest, her eyes screwed tight, her lip trembling. He had made her want to cry. I rushed over to my helpless mother, sitting beside and wrapped my arms around her. She leaned into my shoulder, sobbing but with no tears.

"Shouldn't I be the one comforting you?" she mumbled into my hair. I laughed half-heartedly. "How do you feel?"

"Angry but I think I'll be able to control it," I answered. "You?"

"Okay..." she was a terrible liar. I continued to sooth her, humming the song I had chosen to play for my audition. I stopped right in the middle of the chorus.

"What is it?" Bella mumbled.

Exactly what I had hoped for. I smelt dog.

Chapter 3: Forks High

I had up hours earlier than I had planned on Monday. I took a long shower and washed my dark curly hair so thoroughly it could have fallen off. Then I dried it all and straightened it carefully after.

First I had to change into some slacks to go hunting and satisfy my thirst. I hadn't been in Forks that much therefore never been surrounded by hundreds of kids cramped in one building. Of course I had been out to different countries and states to go shopping with Aunt Alice but this time I was going to be alone and would have to resist by myself.

Jacob had slept on the couch the night before and came along with me to hunt (wolf form). We would make a game of who could find the biggest deer or elk. I naturally won.

After I satisfied my thirst I changed into black skinny jeans and leather boots, a white blouse and black jacket. I straitened my hair again and put on a bit of lip-gloss.

"Very sophisticated," Jacob commented when I came out. I stuck my tongue out at him and said goodbye to my parents as I left for my first day of school.

"Make sure you've got your cellphone," Bella called after me. I had put it in my black handbag for school.

I nodded at her and then got into my new car. I breathed in that new car smell whilst I put it on drive and buckled my seatbelt. The engine purred and drove smoothly down the road to Forks High School.

The sky was pale grey with only a hint of blue in it, an average day at Forks. It wasn't windy either so the scent of human blood wasn't very strong.

I knew the story of how my parents met and was told it was very dangerous. It had been my mother's first day starting at Forks High School. She had decided to live with Grandpa Charlie because her mom (Grandma Ren??e) had gotten remarried.

"I didn't really enjoy my first day that much," Bella had told me. "The school was much smaller than the High School I went to in Phoenix, so there were a lot of similar faces in all my classes. Every lesson someone would come up to me and introduce themselves and walk me to my next class. At lunch I sat next to a girl named Jessica and her friends. That was when I saw your dad."

Edward chuckled at this. "I think that was one of my favorite memories. I thought it was going to be an ordinary day, for me anyway. I sat down at the usual table with my brothers and sisters. Since we didn't eat there wasn't much to do so-"

"So he 'tuned in' to what everyone was thinking for something interesting," Bella interrupted raising an eyebrow at her husband. "Isn't that right?"

"Yes, I listened to what the students were thinking and then I heard someone say - or think - my name. It was like I was flicking through channels on tv and stopped when I found something interesting. It was Jessica who had thought it. She was sitting next to the most beautiful woman alive - apart from you Nessie." If mom could she would have blushed.

"I found it very odd that I couldn't hear what your mother was thinking," Edward continued, "and I started to get a little annoyed with myself. It was like she was on a different frequency. So I listened to what her friends thought to find out more about her.

"That was quite difficult and it didn't help that the boys at her table were practically drooling all over her." I giggled at this; my mom never seemed to be the type of person who liked to grab everyone's attention. Bella just rolled her eyes.

"I didn't like what some of the girls' were thinking either, most of them were very jealous that all the boys - including me - were staring. So then I decided to just listen to what your mother and Jessica were talking about. Not very hard if you're a vampire."

"How about I tell her the rest?" Bella half-snarled at Edward. No doubt she was embarrassed. "So I was.... intrigued by your dad and his family so I asked Jessica about them. She told me what you already know, that Carlisle and Esme 'adopted' them. After lunch I had Biology. There was only on empty seat-" she grinned "-next to a Mr. Edward Cullen. I was very lucky."

"Not that lucky since he wanted to drink your blood," Edward murmured quietly. Bella glared at him then carried on.

"He was weak at the time, very thirsty. He looked so furious and stiff when I sat next to him and never moved a muscle. I thought I had done something wrong because he stormed out of the classroom as soon as the bell went. He later tried to change classes."

"Good thing he wasn't successful," I commented. Bella and I grinned at each other and I saw the corner of Edward's mouth twitch.

"He even moved to Alaska for a few days to stay away but came back after a week or so. He finally talked to me in the next Bio lesson. 'Hello,' he had said and then introduced himself. Of course he already knew my name but asked anyway. It was quite awkward.

"We just had to identify the stages of mitosis and we both had already covered it so it was easy and we finished first. Lots of time for talking so he commented on the snow. He then asked why I moved which completely took me off guard. No one had asked me that. I answered in short answers so he kept asking more questions."

"She was very interesting and unique," Edward said sweetly. "That's why I fell in love with her."

I found their story so romantic but yet so weird - a vampire falling in love with a human? Of course weirder things had happened like a half-human half-vampire falling in love with a werewolf.

I focused on my driving and realized I had just past the school. "Damn," I cussed. It was a good thing I was quite early.

I circled again and parked at the front of the school along with the other cars that belonged to students. I quickly but gracefully rushed out in case I was late.

"Nice car," a boy said. He had jet black hair cut spiky like Jacob but had dark olive skin.

"Thanks," I said to him as I walked towards the front office When I got in I was greeted by the red-headed receptionist. I knew straight away that her name was Mrs. Cope because she was the same woman who greeted Bella on her first day. Aw crap, this meant she would recognize my face and surname.

"Just stick to the plan," my father's voice rang in my head. "Esme and Carlisle foster you because you are Carlisle's niece. Your parents' names are Lia and Adam Cullen and they both died in a car crash 6 years ago when you were 10. You have been in care ever since. Emmett, Rosalie, Alice, Jasper are all at university. So is your mother and I but we visit regularly."

"Is anyone going to ask me about all that?" I had asked him before. He smiled and told me that these kids all grew up together so they would be curious about the new kid.

Mrs. Cope's eyes widened when I walked closer to her. Obviously remembering an old face. She tried to hide her shock by smiling at me sweetly.

"I'm Renesmee Carlie Cullen," I told her. The shock was back and all over her face.

"Are you related to Dr Cullen by any chance?" she asked suspiciously.

"Yes," I answered smoothly. "He is my uncle." She nodded but still she looked confused. Edward was right when he said they'd be curious but I had no idea the teachers would be as well. Mrs. Cope rummaged through the filed on her desk and carefully pulled one out.

"Here you are, honey," she said handing them to me. "There is your locker combination and number, schedule and a map of the school." She pointed out on the map the best route to some of my classes. She also handed me a slip that I had to get each teacher to sign and I was to bring it back at the end of the day.

She looked uncertainly at me whilst she said goodbye but I simply ignored it and left the office.

I entered one of the buildings with the number 4 painted at the side. I glanced at my map then went into one of the classrooms. I was relieved to find out I was in the right English room.

I gave the slip to the petite grey-headed teacher at the front to sign. She gaped at the name but signed it quickly and pointed out an empty seat at the back next to the same boy in the parking lot.

"Hey there," he said. "We met earlier on. I'm Ryan Green."

"I'm Renesmee Cullen," I replied.

"Nice to meet you. I didn't know there was going to be a new kid coming."

I let out a quiet sigh in relief; hopefully the other students wouldn???t know my last name either.

"Yeah, um, it was kind of a last minute thing," I replied. He couldn't reply back as the teacher started talking.

"For those of you who don't know we are studying Romeo and Juliet this term," she said. "Now Romeo and Juliet...."

She droned on for the rest of the lesson about what Edward had already taught me. After it was Chemistry and, what do you know, Ryan sat next to me then too.

After a few hours it was lunch. A girl in my Algebra class named Nina had asked me to come sit at her table. I grabbed a box of French fries and a drink and looked around for her familiar blonde her. Sure enough she was at the same table a Ryan. She waved at me to come over and I reluctantly obeyed.

"Everyone this is Renesmee," Jennifer introduced me to her friends. They all nodded and smiled at me. I noticed a few of the boy's jaws drop at the sight of me and a girl, I remembered saying her name was Linda, rolled her eyes.

I sat in between Ryan and Nina whilst she asked me thousands of superficial questions like how I looked so tan (Rosalie sprayed tanned my whole body, now if the sun shines on me I don't sparkle) and where I got my bag and clothes and what was my favorite color.

I tried to answer as truthfully but it was very awkward with the boys hanging on my every word.

"What kind of music do you like?" Nina asked.

"Umm... I quite like classical, but indie and rock as well," I answered.

"Really?" A boy with long blonde hair - I remembered his name to be Tom - spoke for the first time. He was very muscular and from his voice you could tell he was arrogant. "You know my band play rock and heavy metal. We're called 'The Jocks' and we're playing this Friday at Western???s Caf??. Do you wanna come?"

Linda leaned into the table to hear my answer, her face in horror. I didn't need to read minds to know what she was thinking.

"Sorry, I can't," I told him. "I'm going to my friend's birthday party." This was no lie; Bella had her birthday on Wednesday but we were to celebrate it on Friday instead. If she was human she would be turning 25.

"I thought you were new to Forks?" Linda said, more of an accusation than a question.

"I didn't say that, did I?" I pointed out. "My cousins went to Forks High School too but graduated years ago. They still live close by and I'm going to their birthday party."

"Oh," Linda said lamely, her cheeks flushed red.

"So, um, are you thinking of joining any clubs?" Ryan asked changing the subject. I smiled at him appreciatively.

"If any of them seem interesting," I said. "Have you joined any?"

"Yeah, the orchestra. It may sound lame but it's quite fun. I play the drums."

"Really?" this caught my interest. "I play the guitar."

"If you want I can sign you up for it," Ryan said eagerly. I grinned and nodded in reply. Linda looked disgusted.

Chapter 1: It

I was running away from It. I didn't know what it was but I knew I was terrified.

I stopped briefly and took in my surroundings: tall oak trees towered over me, it's branches stretched long and high over the midnight sky so there was only darkness. I realised I was in our usual forest, the one where my family and I hunt. I suddenly started running again because I heard It behind me. I was running at top speed, the way my father had taught me, but It was still gaining on me.
What kind of creature is able to nearly outrun the daughter of the fastest vampire out there? Unless It was a vampire too?

I shivered at the idea. But if it was a vampire then why was it coming me? I was half-vampire after all. I lost my train of thought when I heard It start growling at me. I didn't turn around but kept running, the forest racing past my eyes. I must have been going over 100mph but yet It was still behind me. All of a sudden I didn't hear It's rapid footsteps behind me. The creature had leapt off the wet grass and was flying past my head, ready to pounce like a cheetah on its prey. I closed my eyes and waited for the pain to begin-

"Good morning sleepy head!" my mother's voice rang like bells. I forced myself to open my eyes.
The scenery had changed, I was in my bedroom that was bright with light shining from the window above my bed. My mother Bella was sitting at the edge of my bed beaming.

"Are you going to stay in bed all day or celebrate your birthday?" she asked teasing me.
I quickly sat up in bed. I glanced at the calender on the left side of my wall. It was true! It was the 10th of September. I then looked at the clock: 6am.

"Why didn't you wake me at midnight?" I demanded. "I just lost 6 hours to celebrate!" And maybe I wouldn't have had that dream too, I thought.
Bella suddenly looked like she was going to cry. I felt so upset of doing that to my mother, watching her beautiful pale face turn into a a frown, her golden eyes looked guilty. Hadn't I caused enough trouble already when she conceived me, or rather me conceiving myself?

I pressed my hand against her cool cheek. My talent was that I could show anyone (werewolves, vampires, humans) what I was thinking by putting my hand to their face (I had now learned to project it to their arms) . I showed my mother how sorry I felt for being rude.

"I'm sorry, too, sweetie," Bella apologised. "Jacob wanted to celebrate with you and you wouldn't want him not to get his sleep, would you?"
I sighed. I'd forgotten about Jacob and that he needed to sleep. How could I have forgotten about someone I loved so much?

"Is dad here?" I asked, remembering my nightmare.

"No, sweetie, he just went hunting for a while with Uncle Emmett and Uncle Jasper," Bella answered. "Now why don't you get dressed then come down for breakfast." She left the room smiling at me and winked before she left.

I let out a deep breathe in relief. If my father Edward had been here he would have heard my thoughts and known about my dream. He tries to respect my privacy but he's still just a overprotective dad.

Although, he was very sweet and was even going to allow me to go to school. I grinned at the memory. My grandfather, Dr Carlisle Cullen, had found a medicine that could slow down my growing. I had to take the medicine 5 times a day to grow at the average rate of a human. It was very odd that yet I was only 6 I looked 16 years old. But thankfully this meant I got to start 10th grade tomorrow - Monday 11th of September. I would be a sophomore. and the oldest in my class.

Quickly, I showered and changed. I nearly burst into song when I opened my closet. The first thing I saw was a casual red dress that looked amazing. And it came with matching designer shoes and accessories. Obviously Aunt Alice had been here and this was my present (or just a part of it). I put it on and curled my hair quickly, burning myself in the process - but being half-vampire it didn't hurt - and darted downstairs to the kitchen.
As soon as I stepped foot in the kitchen Bella rushed over and covered my eyes.

"Mom!" I moaned. She just laughed and said, "What do you smell?"
I sighed and played along. I inhaled deeply through my nose and noticed the delicious scents. They weren't the kind of smell you get from flowers or candles, what I smelt was human food.

"Um... pancakes with a lot of... chocolate syrup. And whipped cream?" I asked. Bella said yes. "And eggs, all different types. Scrambled, sunny-side up, boiled... and omelets. Banana muffins, blueberry muffins...." I wrinkled my nose. "Is that dog I smell?"
Bella giggled again and released me. Sure enough everything I had smelt was there on the dining table, and more. I recognised the dog smell belonging to Jacob who sat grinning ear to ear at the table.

"Jacob!" I jumped for joy and ran over to hug him.

"Happy Birthday Nessie!" Jacob replied squeezing me into a tight embrace. Though he was sitting he was still much taller than me and had to lean down to peck me on the cheek. Blood ran to my pale cheeks making me blush out of embarrassment.

"Careful, Nessie, you'll crush me," he teased me as I let go of him. "So I got your present-"

"But you can't see it yet," Bella interrupted. She raised an eyebrow at Jake. "We agreed she'd open it at the party."

"Awww. Come on mom!" I complained. She laughed, "If you see it now then you'll want to use it and then you won't have time to go shopping..."

"We're going shopping?" I interrupted, very eager. "Where?"

"Depends on your Aunt Alice."

As if by magic Alice danced in, her pixie face smiling at me, her cropped hair flying all over the place.
"Someone call?" she giggled. "We will go where I say so. It could be New York or Chicago or Boston. Maybe even Europe."

"Not Italy," both Bella and Jacob said. I shivered at the thought of being even that close to Volterra or "Them".

"Of course not," Alice reassured. "Try to persuade your mom to come along, will you? She's already worn that outfit before." She jerked at my mother wearing her normal outfit of jeans and a t-shirt. I laughed. Alice tried to never let us wear the same thing twice; that's why my closet was huge and full of clothes I haven't even touched I looked like my mom I didn't have much of her personality. I absolutely adored all my clothes and loved dressing-up. Bella, on the other hand, tried not to dress-up whenever possible.

"Aren't you going to eat Renesmee?" Bella said changing the subject. "Or Jacob will end up eating it all."
Sure enough Jacob had started wolfing (as he is one) down his plate. I rolled my eyes and started eating breakfast too. It deeply satisfied my half-human side. My family tried very hard to make me like human food rather than blood. They had succeeded for a while until Bella made me try broccoli.

Alice and Bella started chatting in the kitchen, whilst I ate, about maybe taking me to Paris. Alice, being the fastest swimmer, said she would help me travel past the French border. Good thing vampires didn't need to breath. Jacob locked my hand with his, his warm touch making me swoon. I grinned at him; today was going to be a good day.

Chapter 2: Presents

I lay exhausted in the back of the silver Volvo, my dad speeding through the town Forks. The shopping trip had been amazing. Alice had gotten my grandma Esme and Aunt Rosalie to come, along with my mother!

Alice had taken advantage of this opportunity by making Bella try on nearly every item in every store (as many as you can fit into 6 hours) and buying everything that fit.
She had also gotten me thousands of outfits for school. She was going to buy me more from New York but I told her that I would look a little too spoiled if I wore all that to school.

I had changed in another dress. This one was pink and fitted perfectly and everyone had complemented on my make-up that Aunt Rosalie had done for me.

I gazed out of the window at the town whizzing by. Edward like to drive very fast, as in over 80mph (which he considered very slow.

I felt the car slowing and recognised the red brick house and the familiar tall gentleman. Before Edward could stop the brake I jumped out of the car and into Jacob's waiting arms.
"I've missed you," I mumbled into his chest as I hugged him tight.

"You've only been gone around 6 hours. How are you going to survive your first day of school?" Jacob joked.

"Whatever."

"Renesmee?" Bella interrupted. I jumped away from Jake. My parents may approve of Jacob but that didn't mean I wasn't embarrassed whenever he hugged me in front of them.
"Next time please wait until I stop the car to get out?" Edward said. "I'll see you two down at La Push." He and Bella walked hand in hand down to the beach.

"Do you want to see your present now?" Jacob asked.
I nodded eagerly. He took my hand and took me into his red-bricked house. I had been to his house many times for dinner with him and the two packs. Jacob was the Alpha of one of the packs and Leah Clearwater was second-in-command. Her little brother Seth was third-in-command because he was very loyal to Jacob. Sam Uley is the Alpha of the other pack. He at first terrified me when I found out he wanted to kill me and my mother and my dad's whole family because they thought I was some kind of monster. Jacob then left his pack to protect Bella because they were best friends. Seth and Leah joined him. Since I found out I always looked up to Jacob for protecting me and mom. Of course Sam had apologised when he found out that Jacob had imprinted me and I was defiantly not dangerous. Jacob lead me past the kitchen and dining room to the living room. There on the old grey sofa was a gleaming guitar.

"Well?" Jacob asked expectantly.

I couldn't speak, I was in shock. It was the most beautiful thing I'd seen. I had always wanted my own instrument. Edward was amazing at playing the piano and I always wanted to harmonise with with.

"Nessie?"

"I....Iove it!" I said overjoyed. "I love you." I locked my arms around him (having to tiptoe and stretch) in a tight embrace.

"I love you too," he whispered and picked me up and swung me around. I wanted this moment to last forever but eventually he put me down.

"They'll be waiting for us at the party," he told me. I sighed, picked up my guitar and went down to the beach.

Everyone was there, Jacob' father Billy, the packs, Sam's wife Emily, Seth and Leah's mother Sue, Edward's adoptive father Carlisle and mother Esme, Aunt Rosalie wrinkling her nose at the stink of wet dog, her husband Uncle Emmett, Aunt Alice cheerful as ever, her husband Uncle Jasper, and of course my mom Bella looking dazzling and my dad Edward grinning at me.

Charlie was there too of course. My grandfather from my mom's side. He was a human so he couldn't know about vampires or else he would be in grave danger so Carlisle had told him I suffer from a rare disease that makes me age faster than others but they are close to stopping it. Charlie had believed it. He was suspicious of how his daughter Bella and her husband's family never seemed to age so Carlisle had lied again and said we caught the disease but they aged very slowly. Charlie had believed it again as Carlisle was a successful doctor and was upset to find out that they had been quarantined and it could no longer spread. He mumbled saying he wished he didn't have to age too.

Sue and Charlie were holding hands happy as ever. They had recently gotten married. The mother of a werewolf and father of a vampire. Who would have thought?

They all hugged me and sang happy birthday to me as the cake was brought out. It had been made out of delicious chocolate and was covered in thick icing. Made personally by Edward. He had made two more for everyone as the wolves like to eat a lot.

As I blew out my candles I thought to myself how lucky I was to be there with my family.

After we had eaten every single piece of cake and lunch (the wolves kept going back for more) it was 5pm and they had started a bonfire that lit up the dark sky. It reminded me a little of my dream but the stars were out, the moon was shining and I was on cloud nine. "Present time!" Edward told me rushing me over to the huge picnic table covered with wrapped presents.

"Where's your one?" I asked him looking over the labels.

"You can't exactly wrap our one sweetie," Bella told me. "Now be glad I helped him pick it. At first he wanted to give you my 'before' car I had to use while we were engaged."

"You got me a car?" I squeaked. My very own car; I would be the first one in the sophomore year to get one. I was grateful Bella had helped. I remembered seeing her 'before' car years back. Edward had given it to her because he was really worried something might happen to her because it seemed trouble was drawn to her. The 'before' car had missle-proof windows and heavy body armour.
"You're 'legal' now, right? And you need a way to get to school," Edward grinned. I hugged him and mom tight.

"Thank you soooooo much!" I said joyfully. Bella kissed me on the forehead in return.

I opened the rest of my presents: I had gotten a laptop from Esme, A collection of books from Carlisle, an entertainment unit from Emmett and Rosalie (already plugged into my room), another gift from Alice and Jasper - a cellphone, an ipod from Charlie and Sue and a book on myths from Sam's pack.

I started to drift of whilst holding Jacb's hand and 'showing' him what I was thinking. Next thing I knew I was back in the silver Volvo, Mom and Dad at the front driving home.

"Go back to sleep, sweetie," Bella said in a sooth tone. "You've got a big day ahead of you."
