Godric sat down on a small boulder and looked into the darkness of the night. He sighed felling the night???s chills set into his bones. The moon hovered in the sky as off-white crescent shape. Godric smiled, it was almost time.
Godric gripped his sword as it was perfectly protected in its sheath. Godric wasn???t so safe. Godric was on an assignment to be bate only to turn around to kill Mygsers, creatures with thick black skin that had unconceivable skill and speed, and return to his town with a certain scroll in hand. This mission was nearly suicide, but since Godric was able to take his two friends, Feron and Enkar, he took the assignment.
Godric turned around to see in the distance the ruins of an old tower; its one broken window faced him. The side of its roof was shattered and bricks piled inside the top room.
Hmm??? That???s odd???He thought to himself, that wasn???t there before.
A snap echoed throughout the woods. Godric instinctively drew his sword and stood. He cast his eyes out trying to find his stalker. Godric stepped forward, he felt the paranoia seep into his bones. His nostrils flared as his nose found a metallic scent. The Mygsers were here.
Godric was thrown to the ground as a Mygser shoved his hands at Godric???s chest. The black creature had cruel marble skin that cracks and crevices as numerous as the dry desert???s plains, it wore absolutely no clothes only a small belt that held a black dagger. Its lidless black eyes were even darker than its pitch-black skin. Its head was barren of hair and only its cracked marble skin was left to fend for its own.
The Mygser snarled and flashed its ivory teeth and drew its dagger. It raised its blade as it pinned Godric to the ground with its two legs. As the blade was hammering down about to end him Godric could not help but think of his love at home. Breanna.
The Mygser???s head was severed from its torso as a swift blade cleaved it from its former body. A blonde haired boy stood over the falling corpse holding his steel blade. His shimmering blue eyes blinked away the black blood that was spilled from the corpse he just slew.
???Coming???? The boy said smugly.
???Feron???? Godric queried.
???Figure that out all by yourself???? Feron???s voice was lined thickly with sarcasm.
Godric rolled his eyes as he lay there. A muscular boy ran from the wall of trees surrounding the two boys. He brushed aside his black hair also wiping the blood away from his dark green shirt. He gripped a bloody axe his muscle lined arm.
???What are we, napping? Get up! You???re the leader!??? Enkar yelled sarcastically mimicking what Godric said when Godric awoke Enkar earlier that day, except slightly modifying it with saying ???leader???.
Feron helped Godric up. Another snap echoed through the wall of trees. The three boys cast their eyes out, searching for their hidden enemies. The endless darkness and trees cast a barrier between them and their hunters. The thought sent shivers through Godric.
Three more Mygsers ran into the clearing. Feron and Enkar positioned themselves behind Godric and the three launched themselves after the black creatures. Two black creatures leapt over and one stood fought. Enkar turned around with the two other that still glided through the air. Enkar chopped off one of the Mygser legs then brought his weapon to the creature???s neck. With one clean stroke the creature was ended. Other creature dug its long nails into Enkar???s bicep. Enkar streaked as his own blood engulfed his arm.
Feron and Godric were up against a lightning fast creature. Feron was thrown into a tree. Godric ran at the Mygser as it raised its mangled, but sharp blade. Godric swept past the Mygser???s blade and cut the marble chest of the creature. The Mygser shrieked as its blood ran in the crevices of its chest. The Mygser raised its sword and ran its blade across Godric???s arm. Blood erupted from the wound.
Enkar looked wary after endlessly trying to pare the creature???s blows. The creature raised its sword and swung it within a second. Enkar???s face plainly showed that he was merely guessing where the black blur would strike next. Luckily enough he guessed correctly. Beads of sweat ran in little rivers down Enkar???s red face. He didn???t blink even though sweat ran into his eyes. He extremely concentrated. He focused all his energy to pare at least the blows of the creature.
Godric was ready to give up as the Mygser gave him many more wounds, but luckily none that would bleed into his eyes. His arms burned as the next series of blows shook his arms to the bone. Feron rose from his flight into the tree and dug his short sword into the Mygser???s arm. Godric took the advantage and drove his sword into the heart of the Mygser.
Enkar???s axe flew out of his hand as the Mygser brought his sword to Enkar???s neck. The Mygser flashed his ivory teeth and pulled back his hand to strike the final blow.
The Mygser fell forward as three arrows lodged themselves into the creature???s back Feron held his bow in still holding the string. Enkar nodded at Feron and said as he breathed heavily, ???It???s over.???
A great shriek tore through the night. Godric???s jerked his head around and hissed, ???NO!???
???What???? Feron and Enkar said in unison.
???They were testing us. They sent two skirmishes at us to see what we were made of. They probly have at least ten more Mygsers ready.??? Godric breathed. He looked at the tower that was only a little way away.
???Got it.??? Enkar took the unspoken command and ran toward the tower as Feron followed. Godric ran toward the ruins as fast as his abused legs would take him. The endless stream of trees made it almost impossible to find the old tower. But luckily Feron???s innate sense of direction veered them in the right direction.
A small clearing was still etched around the tower. The tower still held some omen of death that clung to it. The door stood as a steel marker that the ancient could still stand against the new. Enkar smash his foot into the door and sent the door into the towers lowest level.
Feron ran into the tower and climbed to the endless flights of stairs. He stopped in the top room holding his bow and gripping an arrow. He walked across the half of the room that wasn???t engulfed with pieces of the destroyed roof. He pushed head out the window and looked over the edge and loaded his bow.
Godric raised his sword and waited for the next barrage of Mygsers. The next wave ran at them. Godric only counted five. That could not be all he deduced.
Godric drew his dagger with his right arm and held his sword with his left. The unaccustomed weight in his left hand made his arm burn even past what it was before. A Mygser ran at Godric. Godric threw the dagger straight into the Mygser???s shoulder. The Mygser ignored the wound and continued to run at him. Godric raised his sword paring the mighty blow from the Mygser. The Mygser doubled back as two arrows protruded from the creature???s black back.
Enkar as fast as his shaking arms would take him he swung his axe at the Mygser???s throat and successfully decapitated the creature. A new Mygser took the old one???s place and barred down on Enkar.
Feron released another arrow as it drove into the Mygser???s shoulder. It pulled the arrow out and threw it as fast as it was shot back at Feron???s face. The arrow cut Feron???s face from his jaw line to his brow. Blood filled his left eye and made it impossible to see out of it.
The three remaining Mygser???s over took Godric and Enkar. Godric fell on his back and was left weaponless. The Mygser was not taking any chances this time he raised his sword to kill Godric. The sword was nearly at his neck as he felt his life pass before him in one great white flash.
Godric was not dead yet. He was not going to give up.
Never, he thought.
He kicked the Mygser???s legs out from under him. The Mygser???s sword dug into the ground as the Mygser land on it. The butt of the sword smashed the Mygser on the side of his head. Godric picked up a rock and beat unmercifully upon the Mygser???s head until it cracked open.
Two Mygser???s surrounded the Enkar and Godric. Enkar was unarmed and spent, but his will still dominated his mind. He picked up a piece of rubble from a large pile beside him and threw the rock at a Mygser. Caught by surprise the Mygser fell back. Godric drew the sword from beside him and leapt on top of Mygser, driving the sword through the Mygsers torso. One last Mygser remained. He snarled and turned to run, but rage engulfed Enkar. Enkar leapt after the Mygser and gripped another piece of rubble and smashed the piece of rock against the Mygsers head until the ground was stained with black blood.
Godric fell back and sighed. It was not over, but he did not care he was spent. Her had nothing left physically or mentally. Godric looked up and saw Feron pulled back on his bow starring out into the forest beyond. He let loose the arrow and it was only a blur. One last shriek struck the night.
???That was the last one.??? Feron muttered loud enough for the two below to here.
???Its over???? Godric asked as he stretched on the ground, ready for sleep.
???Yes.???
???Wow.??? Enkar muttered, ???I thought we were toast. But where is the scroll we were supposed to get????
???On the last Mygser I just killed, I saw him carry it.??? Feron answer.
Godric moaned and stretched once more, ???who votes Feron should go get it???? Enkar and Godric???s both raised their hands.
???Sorry Feron, majority rules.??? Enkar said sarcastically.
???Fine.??? Feron muttered as he descended from the tower. He walked out of the tower and into the woods to fine the bloody scroll.
???Should we go back to get our things? You know like food???? Enkar asked Godric.
Godric rubbed his eyes fighting off the sleep, ???Forget that, I???m sleeping right here. But feel free to order Feron to go get them.??? Godric said as he fell into a deep sleep.
