He is name after the Japanese naval hero, Togo Heihachiro.
In 1925, Togo saved many children from diptheria outbreak.
Despite much snow and difficult path, he brought the medicine 1,085km to Nome.
After that, Balto ran the medicine the last 89km.
Today, Togo is often forgotten, and people credit Balto as the hero.
Balto even has statue in recognition of achievement.
There is now a breed of dog named Seppala Siberians to honor the musher of Togo.
They are strong sled dogs that can work in inclement weather.
Mushers around the world revere Seppala as one of the greatest in history.
It is very fortunate to have a book signed by Seppala.
Togo also signed some too!
In real life, Togo passed away at age of 16 years.
