The Guitarfish is otherwise known as a Shovelnose Ray. These rays consist of over 30 species and have a separate subspecies known as the Giant Guitarfish. There are 6 species of Giant Guitarfish and are actually more closely related to Sawfish. These rays do not have stingers or any other notable defense mechanisms, and must rely on camouflage to hide from predators. Their name derives from their spade shape upper body with a long, skinny tail, resembling a guitar. The Guitarfish is otherwise known as a Shovelnose Ray.
