Sea turtles dig a hole on the beach to lay their eggs, then cover them up and leave them. The babies will hatch and dig their way to the surface, instinctually following the light that shines on the ocean to begin their lives. Unfortunately, with the establishment of houses, hotels, businesses, etc., the light from these buildings confuse the baby turtles who will sometimes commute inland instead of towards the ocean. This will inevitably lead to death. Humans have tried to rectify this by spotting new egg sites and setting up protection zones around it. Once the eggs start hatching, people will set up barriers to block the light from the mainland, ensuring the turtles will make it out to sea.
