Zmey is a name for Balkan Slavic a kind of dragon.
In Bulgaria lore, the zmey tends to be regarded as a benevolent guardian creature. The zmey is sometimes described as a scale-covered serpent-like creature with four legs and bat's wings, at other times as half-man, half-snake, with wings and a fish-like tail.
