The
Transformation Temple was released 18th August 2008 and the site has changed a lot since then. We have updated the layout of the Temple to make it easier to use on mobile devices, we have new artwork and it's final prize has been changed. The
Staff of the Light Fairy has been moved to the
Millionaire's Lodge (will
retire from here June 30th) and the final prize has been changed. You can now select any missing pet colour transformation for the pet inside the temple - similar to what a Fake Costume does. This means that if your pet is currently a Decadal, you can select any costume a Decadal can wear that the pet hasn't already been before and it will add this transformation to it's collection but will not change the pet at all.
Some of the oldest
Balloons have new artwork - which also refreshed the
Balloon Burst game. There are also 15 new balloon items on sale at the Balloon Shop.
A new
Giveaways feature has been released in Lowlyhood.
Players can donate any (or all) of their MP to this feature and it will be added to the prize pot.
Whenever there is MP in this prize pot, all players can visit here for FREE once every
2 hours to empty a piggy bank and grab some of the prize pot!
The more MP in the prize pot, the more they can grab!
Players who have less than 1,000,000MP in total can visit this feature once every
hour.
Every time you donate MP to this
Giveaways feature, your total donated will increase.
The top 100 players who donate the most will be listed on the
Walk of Fame in Lowlyhood.
We would like to take the chance to remind all players that:
1. Trades are for the exchange of items and/or currency with an equal value that's a fair exchange.
2. Using trades to send, receive or move currency is against the rules and you should only use the
Currency Exchange.
3. To keep the game fair and evenly balanced, players are only allowed
one account.
4. All items, pets or currency gained from your account through the many Free Games, Games, Points to Play games, Quests, Missions, Pet Dailies, etc are for your account only.
5. While we appreciate and encourage Marapets players to be generous and help each other out, there is a fine line between being generous and cheating. If in doubt, open a Support Ticket for staff approval.
6. Excessive gifting to another player is, and has always been against the Marapets rules. This unbalances the game and gives certain players an unfair advantage above others. This rule has and always will remain in place.
7. You can donate as many items you want at any time to the
Pot of Gold.
8. You can give away any of your pets to the
Pet Pound.
9. You can give away as much currency as you like, in MP, at the
Giveaways feature.
10. The site rules are linked at the bottom of every page of the site. Trying to find loopholes to bypass any site rule or using any feature on the site in a way that it shouldn't be is against the rules. Creating "junk trades", for example, is using abusing the use of Trades and can result in account termination - use the Currency Exchange!
The
Olympics is back and better than ever! Just like before, you can enter each pet into Olympic competitions every
2 hours (or one hour with the Olympics Giftbox released in 2009).
Just like before, pets can enter and compete in each competition. There are now 30 different competitions, each with different stat requirements. These also update every 10 minutes, getting harder or easier throughout the day.
There are also 4 different groups to compete in, the higher your pet's stats are, the higher category you can enter and the more Olympics Points you can win!
A new
Olympic Event happens on the 15th of every month for pets to compete in all 30 categories, with huge prizes to be won! To enter, your pet will need to win
1st Place in any of the Olympic competitions they enter.
The more they win, the higher their level, the more chance they will win the Olympics on the 15th!
Pets who make it to
Ultimate category of any event and win 1st Place will automatically be entered into a new
Olympian group where they can earn higher Olympic points than before! The stats needed to enter as Olympian increase by 1 every time the pet wins 1st Place.
They will also have a new medal for their pet's profile.
The
Olympic Redemption Shop has 18 new items on sale for you to spend your Olympic Points on.
A new
Health Tonics Shop has been released. It's not exactly a new shop but has instead replaced the Magic Shop in Gigantic Paradise.
All items previously in the Magic shop, except for 'Healing Potions' which have changed to 'Health Tonics', have been renamed and moved to the Weapons shop. They will still work as they did before, but instead of being named 'Wands' they are 'Magic Staffs'.
Wands are a new type of item from a new shop coming later this year.
There are
308 Health Tonics now restocking - 4 health tonic items per pet. They are all gourmet food items that your pet can drink. If the health tonic you give to your pet matches the species, it will heal their Health stats, needed for battling by either 25%, 33%, 50% or 100%.
The
Bubble Pit was recently changed (actually fixed) so that when Pleon is busy, she will tell you to come back tomorrow. This was an original feature of the Bubble Pit but the odds of it happening were so rare that it hardly ever happened.
Players who battle often also have the
Battle Giftbox which automatically heals their pets after every battle so have never noticed/reported that the Bubble Pit was in fact broken for so many years. If you are timed out from the Bubble Pit, you can now use a health tonic to restore your pet, add the giftbox to your collection or wait until the Bubble Pit resets at midnight.
One of the most requested features since the release of
Bingo was a way of buying all bingo tickets in one click. This wasn't added originally because Bingo is very server intensive, running games every 15 minutes, all day, every day for thousands of tickets, for hundreds of players.
As a compromise, there is a new
Bingo Giftbox for £1 AU Credit for those who want to buy all Bingo tickets each day at the click of a button.
We are very pleased to announce that our
Dress Up Dolls have been upgraded. They are now 100% mobile friendly and you will no longer need to have a browser with flash enabled.
We first released our dolls on the
1st of January, 2006 (did you know Marapets is 2 years older than Facebook?) and we were the first pet site to ever have such a feature and they were very, very innovative back then by allowing total customisation, different layering of clothes and colours to be changed for every layer.
Back in 2006, Macromedia Flash was the future! Now, as you may know, flash will be obsolete in 2020 and our flash games and flash dolls would've been too.
This update solves this issue and allows our players who play by mobile or tablet to update their dolls much easier.
The
Lush Fountain has had a major update. It will now show every single item your doll is wearing. Click on any and it will show you every colour that you can change it to. There is no longer a difficult form for you to fill in and it is 100% mobile friendly!
If you are on a Drew quest, the fountain has been updated to show you which clothing needs changing and also brings the colour you need to change right to the top.
You can also now use the Lush Fountain for wardrobe items like Hair Dye, Lipsticks, etc to update those much easier and see every colour you have. There is also an option for these to only show Hair Dye colours that match colours you have unlocked from Glowing Eggs!
Drew quests have been improved. The Lush Fountain is much easier now whenever you are on a Drew quest, showing you the clothing and colours you need to complete his quest.
When you start a Drew quest it will also now show you which
Glowing Egg the colour code he asks for is from, with the option to Check Price of this egg.
Finally, there is a new
Drew Giftbox that will allow you to change your doll to wear exactly what clothing and colour that Drew is asking for, in one click, if you have these items in your collection!
There have been too many updates to the site recently to list them all here so this is just a quick update of some of the major ones. Anything that isn't listed here, if it was asked for at the Editorial, I will answer that soon with more information.
A new
Price Order Giftbox,
Pixie Dice Giftbox and
Jelly Castle Giftbox are on sale at the
Giftbox Shop.
The Pixie Dice Giftbox allows you to play this game every 8 hours instead of every 16 hours and the Jelly Castle Giftbox allows to you visit twice a day instead of only once.
The new
Price Order Giftbox unlocks a great new feature that automatically checks the price on the Shop Search of every single item you have in your Attic and allows you to sort them by cheapest, most expensive and unbuyable!
It also allows you to sort all of the items you are missing from your collections by price, so you can buy the cheapest ones first!
You can now sort the
Wishlist items and all items in your
Attic by newest and oldest items, based on the date they were released. You can also sort your Attic by amount, showing the items you have the most of first.
When you buy the item you need for a
Cosmonaut or
Desert Spy quest, you can now complete these quests from the shop.
You can also complete a
Knutt Knight or
Sumo Sally quest from the Battle Arena.
Every single
Reward feature has been updated. You can now see how close you are to the next reward much more easily.
Pet rewards will show your default pet but you can visit each rewards page and click the 'View All Pets' button to see how close each of your pets is to the next reward.
The
Site Layout has been updated and improved. We have tried to keep everything as much the same as we could, but it may still take some time to get used to the changes.
If you click on the main character artwork on every page, such as a shopkeeper or game character, it will return you to the feature. The top right corner of every feature has a 'Return to' button to go back to the world it is from.
We have replaced most smaller text links with bigger, easy to click buttons. Whenever you need to select an item or pet you now do so by clicking it, rather than tiny little radio form buttons that are difficult on mobile devices.
Bigger buttons, larger text and many other changes have been made almost everywhere to make the site easier for all.
The majority of the site has
Suggested Links at the bottom with links, in alphabetical order, to features that are similar or useful.
If you find a page or any feature that is missing or would be useful, please let us know in the Editorial so that we can keep improving it.
The Basil, Daisy, Limax, Lorius, Snookle, Speiro, Walee, Willa, Xoi, Yakubi and Yuni can now wear the
Lava Costume. This means that ALL 77 different pets can now wear this costume!
Remember, the
Lava Account Upgrade retires in less than
48 Hours.
The
Christmas Treasure Map has been renamed to the
Ice Caves Treasure Map.
The
Ice Caves were first released in January 2007 and wasn't a very useful feature.
It has been over 12 years since it was first released. In those 12 years, Marapets has changed a lot.
We've released goals, progress goals, treasure map collections, the Native Fairy and we relaunched the Ice Caves last April making it a much more useful feature.
All of these changes have meant that more and more players have wanted or needed this map. Pieces 1, 6 and 12 were always much rarer and have never been on sale with the other pieces in
Treasure Map Shop.
These pieces are now on sale for RP in this shop, at much, much higher prices than the other pieces.
The Crindol, Eyru, Feliz, Jessup, Sindi, Snookle, Tasi, Ushunda, Walee and Xoi can now wear the
Thunder Costume.
The Arinya, Gizmo, Huthiq, Jessup, Quell, Raulf, Straya, Sybri, Tantua, Tasi, Viotto, Vixen and Zetlian can now wear the
Lava Costume.
Remember, the
Lava Account Upgrade retires in less than a week!
We have changed the way that future
Account Upgrades are released, starting with the newest Spring Set.
These are no longer called 'Gold Account Upgrades', a name which made sense 10 years ago when we still had Bronze and Silver Account Upgrades.
They are now called 'Account Upgrade Sets' named after the Costume that it comes with. Each set will come with a
choice of either an
Enchanted Plushie or a
Potion.
There is
still a 1 in 3 chance you will receive a limited edition pet with each set but from now, there will be many more non-limited edition pets available as the other prize, rather than just one item.
If you purchase three of the same Account Upgrade set, you are still guaranteed at least one limited edition pet. For example, if you purchased 2 Spring Sets and received a non-limited edition Enchanted Plushie or Potion for each set, the 3rd Spring Set you purchase will be guaranteed either an Enchanted Spring Lati Plushie or Spring Lati Potion. Just as before, this guarantee is only for the first three of each set you purchase.
A new
Spring Account Upgrade Set has been released, with 7 new Spring themed items, a Spring Costume (
retired since June 2013) and either a Spring Enchanted Plushie or Spring Potion. This set is on sale until
June 30th.
You can choose if you would like the main prize to be an Enchanted Spring Plushie or Potion. There is 1 in 3 chance you will receive a limited edition
Lati instead of Azul, Crindol, Equilor, Fasoro or Knutt.
The Azul, Crindol, Equilor, Lati, Lorius and Straya can now wear the
Spring Costume.
The Crindol, Doyle, Fasoro, Paffuto, Reese, Renat, Rofling, Rusty, Sindi, Troit, Ushunda, Vlad, Zoink and Zoosh can now wear the
Lava Costume.
Remember, the
Lava Account Upgrade retires in less than two weeks!
The Echlin, Ercuw, Feliz, Gobble, Hump, Ideus, Ike, Justin, Lati, Murfin, Newth, Nino, Oglue and Osafo can now wear the
Lava Costume.
We have listened to recent feedback about old, retired
Treasure Maps and have changed the way they are going to be re-released.
Instead of releasing them along with revamped costumes as an Account Upgrade set, they will instead all be added to the
Account Upgrades Shop, starting with random pieces of the Unnecessary Perfection Instructions, Foxfire Pond Treasure Map and Kamilah Pyramid Treasure Maps. These automatically
retire from the
Account Upgrades Shop after
30 days and will be replaced, automatically, by 3 random, different Treasure Maps. There are 16 different maps, instructions or passes that will rotate automatically.
Never forget to complete a mission or play a game again with our new
Notification system! If you visit our Free Games, Points to Play Games and Pet Dailies sections you now have the option to select which features you would like to receive reminders or notifications for.
If selected, you will be notified whenever you can play a game again, buy a newspaper or magazine again, when a pet has finished training and more! There is an option on the Missions page to be notified whenever you can start a new mission and reminded to finish one you have started. Banks also have an option to receive reminders to collect interest and your shop till has the option to be alerted every time someone buys an item from your shop.
If you do not want these notifications, you can untick all of the options to turn it all off and whenever you want a reminder for a certain feature, you can turn it on again. Please note that mission levels with less than 15 minutes remaining will have a notification on every page for all players to make sure you do not fail by mistake and this feature cannot be switched off.
The
Shops page has been updated with a new layout, new icons for each different currency and a countdown until the next restock of new stock for each shop. The countdown has also been added to each shop.
Goals also has an upgraded page with more information, the
Progress Goals and everything else that is possibly related to goals. If you are a high enough level, you will be given information about how many players are currently a higher level than you. There are also new random events to encourage players to complete their Progress Goals, as there will be lots more special bonuses, features and rewards in the future for higher level players.
Thousands of items that had wrong or missing information on
Price Check have been updated, including all the different colours of each Minipet that now link to the
Minipet Colours section.
The
Mission page has new links to the Peasant Fairy and Monthly Mission Contest, more information about the Magic Carpet and Beanstalk and if a treasure map needs to be collected to use a mission, it will now tell you this.
Some of the oldest
Countdown Timers around the site have been updated. There will be no more
710 Minutes! Instead it will say 11 hours and 50 minutes.
The
Editorial also has had many new features, fixes and site tweaks that I have not listed here. There will also be many more answered soon.
And finally, the
Quest page has a cleaner design and brand new countdown timers for each and every quest. If a quest requires a treasure map to access, this page also now tells you about it.
We're pleased to announce that our
Server Maintenance was completed yesterday without any downtime and was a success. You may remember that on March 23rd we wrote in the news about the new load balancer. Back then we had hoped for it to be completed and live by March 25th but as usual, things don't always go as planned and it took an extra month of work and testing to be sure it worked correctly.
For those who would like to know more about what the changes mean,
I will try to explain:
Before yesterday, Marapets had 24 different servers that load the PHP scripts and generate all of the pages that you visit around the site. Whenever you visited a page, one of these would be picked at random and you would be sent to a random one. This worked OK, but not great. Random is random and it would send too many people to one server and less to another. It also didn't know the diference between a CPU intensive page and a basic page, so some servers could be getting lots more load while others are sitting idle.
We now have 63 different servers that run our PHP scripts - nearly 3 times as much as before! And we also have a brand new, very smart
Load Balancer that makes sure that each time you load a page on Marapets, you are always sent to the server which has the lowest load! You should notice that Marapets is running faster and smoother than ever before and will continue to do so at all times of the day, no matter how many players are online.
Marapets has had 100.00% uptime performance so far for the whole of 2019 and we are constantly working to make sure this remains. Thank you for all of the
Account Upgrade buyers who have helped us to manage this!
Our servers are located in Canada and our players in North America currently have a slightly better experience than our players in the rest of the world. Our next planned upgrade - which we hope to manage later this year - will be to improve the speed of our network for players outside of North America.
The
Photo Parlour in Lush Lake has been improved and has brand new artwork. Staff also have a new system in place now where they can upload and release new photos and plates to the site without my help. From now on, when a new pet colour or minipet is added to the site, staff will
aim to have their photos and plates added to the site later the same day. There may still be times when they are added a little later that that - so it is not a guarantee - but it will still be much faster than before!
All
Lava, Easter, Genie & Jinn pets will receive
FREE TRAINING at the Gym and Elite Gym until May 10th.
And all

FREE LESSONS at the School until May 10th.
The Azul, Crikey, Dakota, Eyru, Figaro, Flab, Gonk, Kaala, Kidlet, Kronk, Leido and Poera can now wear the
Lava Costume.
A new
Lava Account Upgrade has been released, with 8 new lava themed items and either a Lava coloured Chibs or Grint Enchanted Plushie. This AU will
retire May 20th.
Can you find these new
Hidden Avatars?
The Addow, Astro, Bolimo, Chibs, Decadal, Equilor, Grint, Knutt, Kujo, Mordo, Pucu and Zola can now wear the
Lava Costume.
The Addow, Astro, Chibs, Daisy, Doyle, Flab, Ideus, Kaala, Knutt, Kujo, Leido and Murfin can now wear the
