With several of Queen Eleka's assassination plots revealed, it's clear to all now that she is still evil. King Baspinar is on high alert as her latest plot saw 145,014 Traps left around Marada. If he ever wants to leave his castle again, these traps must be found and removed!

A new Game has been released in Enpiah. Traps can be played for FREE once every 6 hours.

This new game is very similar to the classic game of Minesweeper. There are 330 squares in a grid and 70 of these contain traps. The more spaces you clear, the more MP you will win. The game will end if you find a trap. The jackpot, currently at 517,978MP, will keep increasing until a player manages to find all spaces that do not contain a trap!



You may also randomly win Charisma Stats for your pet. If you have the Pet Stats Giftbox in your collection, you can also select which pet will receive the charisma stats before you play.

 Level 32 or higher players will earn Double Charisma stats from Traps.

We'd like to apologise for MaraPets being offline for around 10 hours yesterday. As soon as it was bed time for us in the UK, the server company sent an email about a fault with their power supply. They had engineers working on the issue and they fixed it within 30 minutes. The problem for us is that MaraPets is very complex and is open 24 hours a day, only ever closed when we plan Maintenance and for the power to be switched off suddenly while over 800 players are playing and hundreds more 'guests' are browsing can cause issues.

Even though the servers were back online within 30 minutes, we were not happy with the way they came back online and through 16 years of experience dealing with every kind of problem imaginable here, we were not taking any chances! We stayed up through the night to reinstall five of the VMs (virtual machines) where the operating system was not performing the best or would only start in recovery mode and ran tests on all of the disks to make sure there we no issues. This obviously takes time and we opened as soon as we could, bringing back the most important parts of the site first. Without doing this, we could've opened sooner but if there were any problems, they'd still be there but could cause more serious problems later. We're back now and everything is up and running as normal.

Doyle, Equilor, Kaala, Quell and Zola can now wear the Devil Costume, which is currently part of the most recent Account Upgrades set.

BREAKING NEWS
Queen Eleka lost the Mini Pet Island war of 2007 and was locked up until 2012, when she proved she was no longer evil by rewarding citizens for their loyalty. Since her release, she has been secretly planning and launching attacks on King Baspinar's castle, determined to overthrow him. Recently her plots have become increasingly sophisticated. Over 85,000 enrolled and over 10,000 graduated at her secret Academy of Witchcraft and Wizardry in June and her loyal minions left 145,014 Traps all over Marada to capture the King.

Queen Eleka's plan to capture him with a trap may have failed but it caught the Power Station workers and caused a Blackout all over Marada. She used the darkness to launch her first attack on King Baspinar's Castle. Now with even Beelzebub on her side, King Baspinar needs your help to Defend the Castle from attack!

Our ninth level based Game has been released. Defend the Castle has 18 levels for you to complete. Earn 3 Stars to complete a level and you'll win the Level Reward Prizes. These are one time prize rewards you will win as a bonus prize for each level.


You can play Defend the Castle up to 3 times per day for FREE. Earn 1MP per 1 point. Earn up to the maximum of 2,000MP each play - if you complete a level with MP for its Level reward, you will receive the bonus MP too! You must send score to unlock the next level or it will not be saved. Game resets at 00:00MST.

The main item prizes for this game is a retired Eleka Minions Trading Card from the Minipet Island Land War in March 2007 and a Capsule Machine Token. Another great prize for this game is the chance to skip any level of the Troll Mission.


There are 5 levels that you will earn this reward, they stack and will be saved to your account to use at Troll whenever you need to.

BREAKING NEWS
As predicted, King Baspinar quietly left his castle last week. With several of his knights protecting him, he headed for the BP Bank to pay for the second phase of construction at the solid gold castle he is building for his pet Wallops. A Yellow Ant Trap left at the bank by ghostface caught one of the King's knights.
After over five months in lockdown the King was unrecognisable and the bank rejected his request, with staff requesting more information. He headed to the Town Hall to try and get identification needed for the Bank and a Basic Trap left by MommaCats seriously injured another of his knights. Identification here failed - another citizen of Marada is using his name!

The King then proceeded to the Salon and Bearber for a hair cut so he'd be more recognisable. While he was here, traps left at the Power Station caught workers and pushed Marada into a Blackout. A Purple Bug Trap left by Sloth at the Salon and a Green Bug Trap left by pickle233822 at the Bearber caught more of his army.

With four of his knights seriously injured, the King headed back to his castle for his own safety. Without power, the Salon was unable to dry his hair properly so he stood in front of the Windmill to dry it. His vanity caught another knight when a Black Wooden Trap left by Lark at the Windmill injured them. ghostface, MommaCats, Sloth, pickle233822 and Lark won a Goblin Decadal Potion.

With the King safely back in his castle and his Figaro, Hump, Kaala and Mordo knights now Headless he knew now that the evil Queen Eleka was back. He sent his knights to visit the evil Beelzebub where a Black Quality Trap left by Swetanew caught another knight. With Beelzebub announcing his loyalty to Queen Eleka, he warned the King to prepare for War.

The knights then visited the Telescope to see if the Queen's attack had started. With Marada in a Blackout they couldn't see a thing! An Orange Fly Trap left here by Hunnie injured another knight. On their way back to the castle, they stopped at the Old Fairy to give her their new Blackout Photos. She didn't believe there was a blackout since they had received more electricity bills than ever before! She suggested the knights just needed new glasses for night time and to eat more carrots, so they stopped by the Glasses Shop and Vegetable Shop.

A Yellow Trap left by PJCME at the Old Fairy, a Pink Trap Door left by annera at the Glasses Shop and a Brown Ant Trap left by Tiger at the Vegetable Shop injured three more knights. Swetanew, Hunnie, PJCME, annera and Tiger won an Enchanted Goblin Decadal Plushie. The Figaro, Hump, Kaala, Kujo, Limax, Lorius, Mordo, Newth, Nino and Paffuto now have the revamped Headless Costume.

The King then called his army back to his castle immediately! Queen Eleka has launched her first attack....

All players that have left traps at the BP Bank, Town Hall, Salon, Bearber, Windmill, Beelzebub, Telescope, Old Fairy, Glasses Shop or the Vegetable Shop will receive a full set of Bonus Prizes for each place they left a trap at. If a player left traps at all 10 places, they will receive 10 sets of bonus prizes. The following players also won these prizes:

A total of 145,014 Traps have been left at 455 different areas of Marada. Now we just need to wait for King Baspinar and his army to leave his castle....

The Daily Discount was updated today to fix an error for several players and we had to reset it for everyone. You can now visit it again but any discount that was enabled for today will reset.

The new Costumes Boutique today stock its first random Account Upgrades Costume. The Moonlight Costume is on sale there for £4 AU until midnight. This means that only one more AU themed costume will appear in the shop this month, at any random day before the month ends. Since this shop now is automatically run, there will not be news updates or reminders about when they appear (unless it fits with a current event).

Players who have the Price Order Giftbox in their Giftbox Collection now have access to another new feature in their Attic. You can view all of the items in your Attic that are currently wanted by other players at the Wanted Ads. It will show the maximum price a player is offering for the item there and your items will be sorted in price order.

The traps left outside the Power Station have been cleared and the workers have returned. They are working their hardest to restore power to Marada and expect the Blackout to end at midnight.

The best thing about this unexpected Blackout is that the darkness has filled the skies with stars! This has helped the Stars Shop, now under new management, to update the last 33 items with old art to their new design.

Introducing the new and improved... Costume Boutique

The Costume Shop has been replaced with the new Costume Boutique. Over the past 16 years we've released over 7,000 different pet colours - 78 species of pet and 206 different costumes! The first item ever added to MaraPets was the Blue Costume and for the first few years of us being open, there were always some costumes in stock at the costume shop. Fast forward sixteen years and the shop is pretty much always empty and making it stock more items only crashes the prices, making the costume easier to get but no longer wanted. The 'restocking' shop model that works well for the other 100+ shops on here does not work well for Costumes.We have therefore changed the shop to the new Costume Boutique. It has all of the benefits of being random and rarer costumes showing up less often but now it will be a fixed price and accessible to all! There are 151 Costumes that have been added to the Costume Boutique, organised into 4 different groups - 19 Colour Costumes, 9 Standard Costumes, 9 Premium Costumes and 114 Account Upgrades Costumes. Every day, a new costume is randomly selected from the Prize List to be sold here for that day only.

One of these 9 Premium Costumes will be selected at random each month, to be on sale for one random day in the month for a fixed price of either MP BP or RP. You will only know what costume is on sale at the shop on the day you visit. You will not be told when a costume is back on sale here or if it will be on sale for MP, BP or RP. There are 9 Standard Costumes and four of these will be selected at random each month. Each of the four selected will be on sale for a different, random day of the month and will be sold for a fixed price of either MP BP or RP. There will also be new costumes in the future added to the Costume Boutique. There are also 114 Costumes there were released as Account Upgrades Sets over the past 16 years. Although we continue to release one or two Account Upgrade sets per month, releasing new costumes hasn't really been an option while there are SO many that aren't avaliable - it would take another 12 years+ to release them all again this way. To help with bringing some of these back automatically, the Costume Boutique also randomly selects two of these costumes each month to be on sale here for £4 Account Upgrade Credits. Each costume will only be on sale for one day of the month and this will be selected at random. This means that only 24 out of 114 of these costumes will be sold for only 24 of the 365 days in a year - it should still keep them rare and limited, without making them unattainable. Any day that a Premium, Standard or Account Upgrades Costume is not on sale at the Costume Boutique there will be one of 19 Coloured Costumes on sale instead. Like the Premium and Standard Costumes, the currency required will be randomly selected to cost MP BP or RP and the prices are fixed and shown on the Prize List.
