After 1 Month and 16 Days of Marapets : Getting to Know the Players

So somehow, simply by selling stuff, I managed to get 13 million recently, only for me to collect stamps and glowing eggs, until I had around 10 million. Then I earned more in the shop for 11.9 million again.

It's Marapet's birthday, and for this event, I was told to go to different players' accounts to click on the invite button for them. Through this, I was able to get to know all types of players for the first time. I took time to study the different profiles as I did this to figure out more of the game.

I took note of how long players were in the game. Many have been here for 14 years or similar when it comes to various gold players, though I don't know if they've likely had long possibly years of a break in between, only to come back to their old account later. The gold player I've seen with the least time here, I don't take account of the names, was around 1 year and a couple of months. Others seemed to have been here for 3-5 years.

I am also a bit puzzled about how there are people my level and under them who have registered here for a very long time, and appear to have collected so much as well as experienced so much of the game, without caring much about the progress goals. No judgment, but I find this bizarre. Some may have breaks in between, but many genuinely seem to just let it be like this for a few 2-5 years, maybe, or more. What???

Some around level 15 have been the same time as me around a couple few months though, but most have been here for longer. Some a year, without going up a level. I found out I could already past level 15 with the amount of battle experience my pet has, going way beyond what is needed with forum questions. But maybe I'm just unlucky, and I keep getting Knutt Knight questions that have a level 500-2,000 opponent for some reason. Who knows? I wish this game adjusted to the player's level from easiest to hardest with quests, but it's entirely randomized in difficulty. A bit confusing, I guess, but I'll keep trying.

I also participated a bit on the forum, creating some topics for myself on the spam sites on deep quotes, and positive news/affirmations spam, just to share some of my ideas. I looked at various subjects without commenting, but I answered some in the entertainment site, especially on books, and the "other" section. Interesting, but sometimes I wish there were more active topics there, so oh well. Outside of private messages with real life friends, I'm afraid usually of talking on public forums, but something about Marapet players seem very unintimidating to me, no matter how dark and brooding their dolls/pets are, so I just share this stuff here. Hope you don't mind. If I pay 500 MP a post, that's fine with me.

I find the names people have for pets fairly interesting. Some have fairly dark names, and this isn't a real example, but maybe something like "Misfortune," "Fury," "Disaster," and a whole range of pets just like that. Others make a lot of joke names to make it as silly as possible. Some add in some characters from certain shows and others involve food in the names. Others involve their hobbies into the names, whether it's some nerdy-geeky technical subject or their interest in fantasy tropes. I also notice some name their pet after their username, and it's a bit odd to have the same name as your pet, but okay, I guess. I'm sure you can imagine what type of clothes their owner might have according to how they name their pets.

A lot of people incorporate their username around certain things. A couple had animal related usernames, and also wore fashion around that animal. Others were characters from anime or live action movies, and tried to make a Marapets doll version of that chracter. Some are names associated with certain themes, such as royalty or danger, that you would only know if you were a history geek, but I know what they're trying to do here.

I also notice a lot of people collect certain favorites of pet types. A lot of people have major pet species and they have those in different variations of costumes, while trying to collect even more of them. Not all costumes exactly, but they do try to collect the rarest costumes as much as possible. I don't really have a favorite myself. I just. . . want all of them, and to take a photo of all of them. I can't really decide. Not sure why.





After 1 month and 6 days of Marapets : Looking for High Scores

So I decided to stop a lot of pet dailies before, but I decided I'd at least work on the gym at least once a day for my 3 pets, of which on some days, I spend a lot of time checking in regularly throughout the day to work on. Others I just do one or two, and then get lazy after. So oh well. I actually did manage to complete some Knutt Knight quests to try to get past level 15, but no luck in completing 10 Baspinar goals at this point, I guess.

I've been thinking of possibly buying gift boxes, but I usually wait until I spend enough time in a game over time to make sure I stick around. You see, I have a track history of trying new games and sticking for a week or two, then immediately leaving for another one. Though I usually have 1 or 2 game obsessions on which I am entirely consumed by. Considering I have been here for an entire month and about 1 week, I might have finally found my new obsession. I actually left gaming for a while because some old games I played for years closed down, due to bankruptcy, not enough cash. .
. then I just took a break from gaming into other hobbies, other than watching Youtube videos of gaming, I guess. To be honest, a handful of old websites, projects on websites, have closed down or slowed down considerably during the pandemic, and I guess . . . even if I seem to have about a million hobbies everywhere else in my life, I long for a sense of routine at least in the middle of all that chaos. Though I'm still not sure about the giftboxes. Let's see if I stick around for 2 months maybe?

On the side, I just decided to master the games as much as possible while waiting for the gym stats to increase for my pets. For example, I finally won at chess without getting a stalemate or draw, and I won at Reversi a handful of times. I finally won at the Uno game, and I'm impressed with how it's going. For a lot of the classic board games, I just observe the tactics and strategies of the computer opponent against me, then I see if I can copy or make use of it somehow in the next game with them. Too lazy to read tips on it sometimes, so I just learn by doing and observing what the computer player 2 is doing.

I've gone from about 4 to 12 hits in Fairy Flight to about 400+ in my high score. And Mine Marada at barely anything to around 200+. That's far from the highest scores on this website, but not bad to develop in one month, I guess, from completely nothing. From Toy Blocks, I reached around 100 as a score at first and now in the 700s. Interesting. I began Quack Mafia recently, because when I clicked on it at first, nothing appeared after the loading screen. After some time, when I checked back, it was normal, so alright I guess. I moved from a score of around 2000 at first to over 5000? Based on prize item standards, this is above average, but nothing that special, I guess.

I have a few games I think I might have a chance of winning a high score in. Somehow I managed to win Monty's Great Escape at a high score of 3,030 which is one of the top 50 players as listed. I can't see the Word Shark high scores for some reason, but I managed to get to levels 22-30 very well, depending on how bored I feel on whether to continue playing the game for so long. The former because I played a lot of running obstacle type games before throughout the years growing up and the latter because I'm a computer geek who is just very, very, very fast at typing.

I'm possibly thinking of trying to get a high score on Tetris, since it's not difficult for me to get a high score by the standards of the prize games. Though I doubt it's high in the highest of the high kind of score. More in the sense of above average, but not. . . complete mastery, I suppose? Actually, for a lot of these games, I will try to get lower scares on purpose to collect all the prize items, but after some time, I just got bored of doing that. So I decided to see what I could do to get high scores.

A lot of the issue is less my ability to adapt to a game with mental speed and flexibility, but more that my hands will get tired after a while of playing, especially with arcade games, which emphasize speed more, over the slow thinking of puzzle games or classic games. I do some strength training as a hobby, and I won't say I am on the level of having six pack abs and can be a good athlete, but I'm somewhat above average, I guess? This is related to the grip strength, yes? Or the amount of strength needed in your hands to be able to do a task, and fine motor movements, which involve a strong use of all the different fingers, such as in typing, drawing or playing a musical instrument. I seem. . . to be lacking on that physical characteristic, so somewhere in the middle, my hands just run out of energy, and just give up in the middle of a game.

Maybe I'll look to exercising my hands and grip, maybe? But oh well. I guess I just have to wait it out with practicing until my hands can gain that type of strength and stamina needed to win high scores like this.


Tips on Making MP from Your Shop (As inspired by real world business)

I dreamed one day of starting a business, so I read a lot of business books growing up. I don't have the confidence or tech experience to do it immediately after college, but I figure I'd get there eventually.

In the meanwhile, I guess I'll just give you people some tips here.

1. You can either make money from having many cheap items at once, or fewer more expensive items at once. It's a focus a lot of businesses do, on which one to emphasize, and you can only seem to do both well if you have enough skill or resources, if not both.

2. You can make a lot of MP selling prize items in games. Personally, I keep collecting a lot of prize items first, got a 200,000+ MP worth plushie and I kept it, as well as a 300,000+ glowing egg, and I also kept it. Maybe when I finished collecting enough, I'd sell more of what I get from those games, but oh well.

3. On the games, like in real life, try to emphasize your strengths or what you are good at to make money off it. Instead of focusing too much on your weaknesses, instead focus on getting better at the games you are best at and enjoy. Perhaps when you feel satisfied with that, you can then work to expand your skill with your weaknesses.

4. Sell photos of pets. You only need a few MP to take two photos a day, or more if you're on a higher level. It helps to make use of the free operations daily, so your pet can transform into something for a rarer picture, if you don't have an enchanted plushie or potion you want to make use of. If you don't want to transform all your pets regularly, you can choose specific pets you want to use for taking photos, especially since there's only a limited amount of photos you can get within a time limit. As in real business, make use of free or cheap items around, then figure out something to do with it.

5. Sell items you get from randomized games, which are labeled as the "chance games" on this site, if you want to. At the beginning, you might want to collect everything, but as you go on, you'll get more of the items you already have, on which you might want to sell. If you're not a super collector in wanting to collect every single thing, you might simply dislike certain items you get and you can choose to sell that to someone who does like it.

6. Make use of another currencies in Marapets. You can sell items in other currency shops for a higher amount of MP, and for some, it may be easier to get other currencies than it is for a large amount of MP, so make use of that. Oddly enough, I see less people taking advantage of this as I see a lot of items no one is actually selling anything around, so currently, there's not much competition on this. Even the easier currencies to get, like recycling or the memory shop, may help in this.

7. Make use of the paid dailies, and see what you can find for a profit. You can get plushies from the plushie machine for just 250 MP about every 15 minutes for example, and you can sell it for a higher price. It seems to be around 750 MP to 7,800 MP for the most common ones, while others are more 7,801 to 15,200 MP from my experience. Really rare ones are even higher, but a lot may just want to collect that instead. Your choice. Also paying 3000 MP to play the dukka coin dash may be risky, but you can sell coins for MP as well. Sometimes even the least valuable prize is higher, like 250 fake dukka coins or 600 fake dukka coins, if you're lucky, which sell for quite more MP. Though the value for a single (not fake) dukka coin is a lot higher from say, just 3+ dukka coins from what I can see. It's risky, yes, but real business takes risks like that. If your MP is too low to afford the risk, like when you have too little savings in real life, taking too large risks isn't really a good idea.

8. You can also sell things like the 2500 MP scratchcards you get, for a very high amount of MP, actually. Though this way, you don't actually get to have a chance at winning something, but most of the time, you don't actually, or if you do, it's a minor prize. Though people want to gamble. I say the items you get with other randomized things inside such as from the Christmas tree is not really that expensive, but higher in MP simply because people like to bet their chances in something, I guess.

9. Sell the items you receive in quests. Note that some quests are easier than others, some are more medium and a few are very difficult. I won't tell you exactly which is which, but the easiest have the least risk of losing MP though they don't have prizes as expensive as the more difficult ones.

10. You may simply want to check back to your attic, and see if you'd like to sell something. It's okay to keep a lot of stuff, but some people just tend to want to keep everything, without doing anything with them. It's a bit like real life, and it's okay to attach yourself to particularly sentimental things, but in things that aren't really, really, that important, you might just be keeping them for a "just in case" type of thing, as it is with real life. Ask yourself : Do you really need some of that stuff? And why are you holding on to it?

After 30 Days of Marapets : So I was supposed to get the 2.2 million MP from the Shop Till

I was around 2.5 million MP with 3.5 million saved in the bank from the last blog update, and I earned some with the games, while spent a bit more, but not by much. Then I read in the instruction guides online that I was supposed to get the profits from my shop in the shop till, huh? So I withdrew the money and got around 5 million MP in total now. I realized the sales part of Marapets recently either. It seemed people did buy my stuff, but I just didn't pay attention much to certain items disappearing. Wow, I really need to look up more guides online for this game to get it. Oh well, at least I have more MP now.

I actually decided to take a break from making my pets go through gym, the elite gym, school, and university. I don't know why, but it just tires me out having to click around each hour or more for something, and I know that will make me have to wait to progress to level 16 later on, but oh well.

I figured I just didn't want to make this game into another type of work, you know, and get overly competitive. I'm fine with people who take this game more seriously than how I'm going about this game more casually, none of my business if it makes you happy, but I have other stuff in my life I want to do, I guess. So I just stuck with what I liked about the game and didn't spend much other than for making sure on being responsible for my pets' hunger, thirst and happiness stats. I just spent much of this period playing the games each day.

I heard before that it's not always helpful to try to master every hobby if your heart is not into it on that level. That it's okay if you're not super talented on every interest, or that every interest has to be useful in some way and will make you a living now or when you grow up. It's okay. I just remember that type of advice. Hobbies are for leisure, after all. To relax. Passions are more of the things you really want to master because you enjoy mastering it, but this game is not what I would call a "passion," for me, so I guess here is where it is for now. Even with passions, you don't need to be number one in everything to be happy with it. With passions, you just like doing your best even if you aren't number one, and that love ironically enough is what often makes people number one in something, or at least. . . errr. . . near the top of whatever they're trying to master, eh?

I guess with Marapets, there isn't just one route of what you want to do with the game exactly. There are many goals to explore, different things to collect, and different games to master. Not to mention different competitions, and different ways to just chill or relax if that's what you want. People can take this game fast, or they can take it slow. I guess I like that about this game, really.

Update on Game Comments - Part 1

Since I got really bored having to wait for my pet to keep increasing gym stats, I decided to post a blog on some game tips along the way. Since I might repeat certain games compared to before when I first came here, I decided to just make another series of articles on it.

Triple Pyramid Solitaire Tips

1. When you can add cards from both ascending and descending directions, count the number of cards that you can add into the deck that is in order. For example, you might have card number 6 with cards number 5 and 7. On card 7, it ends there, but with card 5, it turns out you can move down at card 4, 3, and 2 also.

2. Notice if you can repeat cards. Such as, you have card 7 and card 6. Then after you add the 6, you can go back to another 7, to repeat the cycle, instead of moving forward to getting card 8 already.

3. Try to get the most bottom cards met first. This will help reveal the cards behind to have more options for your next move.

Pyramid Solitaire Tips

1. Memorize the card combinations that add up to 13. . . these are :
King card, which can be clicked on by itself. The Queen and Ace card. The Jack card and the 2 card. The 10 card and the 3 card. The 9 card and the 4 card. The 8 card and the 5 card. The 7 card and the 6 card.

2. Notice if the card behind certain cards are helpful to add a pair to 13 if you have more than one choice of card to clear. For example, you might have two jack cards, and you have a two. It turns out behind one of the jack cards, is an ace card for the queen card, so pick that one.

3. On the deck cards at the bottom, there will be a left and right set of cards on which you can choose from. The right was your previous choice, and sometimes when the current choice was cleared, it will make room for the previous choice to be used. For example, you cleared up a 10 card with a 3 card. Behind that is a 4 card for the 9 card, which was your previous choice card.

Gold Mine Tips

1. Sometimes you will have to temporarily push the cart back to clear the game. It's okay. Do so anyway.

2. Sometimes when moving the blocks, you will have to temporarily make it harder for the cart to move in the process by adding more obstacles to it. Realize this usually takes several steps in later levels, and you will have to temporarily move stuff around to make it clear up.

3. Notice the size of the blocks, whether it has a length of 2 to 3 blocks, which will be helpful with your set up.

4. Personally, I like to start analyzing the block that is blocking the exit, and then going backwards to see which block is blocking that, and then the block which is blocking even that one, and so on.

5. Sometimes randomly experimenting and just moving blocks at ways you don't usually do can help give you some ideas. If stuck, you have a restart button for the level anyway.

Evil Clown Tips

1. Take account of how the ball can bounce off the wall to get to certain places. It will do you wonders.
2. Experiment with completely random directions to shoot than you would normally try if you are stuck. You might get some ideas on what to do. Besides, you can just restart the level.
3. Observe the ball as it shoots and see if you need an entirely different direction, or you just need to tweak the angle of the ball a little.
4. Be willing to shoot at narrow edges with objects even if you risk the ball bouncing back to you with these obstacles. Do so anyway.
5. I personally find the music particularly distracting when it comes to working out a puzzle game like this, so maybe turn it off in the settings, as you can do with other games to concentrate better, if that works for you.

Space Rocks Tips

1. Try to make it perfectly flat, yes, but sometimes when you have no other option, you have to make an imperfect block tower or else you will just risk making a tall column of piled blocks that will reach the top. Learn to not be such a perfectionist sometimes, while trying to reduce mistakes as much as possible.

2. Try to visualize ways to clear up a row without using the straight vertical block. You'd find that offers you a lot more options.

3. Be patient, and make use of the short time analyzing the bottom blocks rather than impulsively dropping the blocks as fast as possible. Patience will serve you well.

Mineral Match Tips

1. Sometimes you will have to connect gems from across the other side of the board. Do not assume that all the connections made will be near each other, so it can provide space for the rest of the jewels to be matched.

2. As always with puzzles, experiment with entirely different directions and use the restart button when needed. Do not get so insistent that certain gems will obviously have to connect this way, and for your mind to narrow on a certain conclusion. Be open to other solutions, and don't just keep repeating the old ones. If an old solution doesn't work, stop repeating it.

3. It helps to take the time to memorize the positions of the gems across the board at first, rather than impulsively trying to connect everything immediately. As it is with puzzles, patience is key, rather than trying to turn this into a guessing game. Maybe that will work in earlier levels, but as you keep going, guessing becomes less effective.

Reunite Tips

1. Note that you can still draw lines after the first lines are made, even if the xois have moved their original positions already. Often this is used as an extra push for the xoi to move.

2. With moving obstacles, try to cross them, not when they get out of the way, but when they are in the way. That is because it will likely move out of the way by the time the xoi gets to cross, and if you hit it when it is out of the way, by the time the xoi moves, it tends to be in the way. Do the opposite of what you consider the right timing, I mean.

3. Take note of the physical environment around the xoi rather than just focusing on the two xoi or what is nearest to them. Why do you think the environment was designed that way?

4. Try to experiment with looking and observing the environment in different focuses than you would usually do. If you always look on the left, look at the right. If you always look at the bottom, look at the top, and so on.

Word Search

1. Note that certain words you have to find contain letters from previous answers, meaning that two answer words may cross each other.

2. Notice that some words may be backwards. Whether vertically, horizontally or diagonally. You might practice for example, by reading a book upside down, or trying to decipher words in a mirror.

3. I tend to try to look for the first letter of a word, and that often helps. Then I make sure to check all the letters surrounding that first letter in a box.

4. When it is a less common letter, like x, y or z, even if it is not the first letter of the word, finding these ones seem to make it easier to find the answer word.
