Thanuriel was not particularly interested in the re-appearing rumors of the mystical wishing coins. He'd heard it many times in his years, and frankly the only reason he was interested was because he could have some fun with it.

He was strolling along town, his hood down (he assumed his questionably bright eyes would be shrugged off as a trick of the sun) and a bounce in his step. His hands shoved in his pockets, he observed the other citizens briskly walking past, not even batting an eye. One was a particularly rich-looking lady with a crazy and intricately braided hairstyle that reached towards the sky. A pearl necklace bounced across her chest each step she took, strutting in her long, lustrous dress.

The next person Thanuriel saw was not so lucky. She was young, only 6 years old or so, and clearly another human being just trying to pass by. Her brown hair was shaggy, long, and dirty, and her dress shredded. Despite the person not being an animal, Thanuriel leaned down and tossed a coin from one of his pockets towards her direction. It fell on the ground, spinning a bit before settling down with a soft 'plink!'. Thanuriel winked, and was quickly off on his way before the young girl could open her mouth to say something.

While glancing at the various shops that lined the dusty streets of the town, Thanuriel saw an odd shine from a coin flipped by a young, energetic looking hedgehog a few steps ahead. They seemed to be inspecting the coin, and Thanuriel did too, from his own spot, hidden in the crowd.

While admiring the stranger's odd coin, Thanuriel was shoved forward by a pot-bellied man.

"Watcsh where's you goin' boyo!" The man boomed, turning back to laugh at Thanuriel. "Or shhould I say it be a fissshy looking feline, ehh!" He slurred, quickly shambling along once Thanuriel unsheathed his sharp claws.

Thanuriel stepped towards the side of the street, retracting his claws and wondering about the coins that the hedgehog had. They seemed odd. Magical, almost, and his hunches about magical items were almost never unrequited. Perhaps, he realized, they were the mystified wishing coins. His grin turned Cheshire-like as he thought about all the things that would happen should anyone else have discovered the hedgehog's find. Oh, he just had to know.

Thanuriel searched the crowds, hoping to find a glimpse of the hedgehog. To his delight, he managed to catch a blur of some blue quills, and he stealthily followed, thinking himself lucky that he managed to find them again. They seemed to be entering an inn.

'Stupid idea,' Thanuriel thought to himself but he entered the inn soon after the stranger. 'Sure to cause some trouble, and in an inn no less. They'll rip 'em to shreds!'

Inside, the inn was crawling with jolly humans and animals alike, yelling 'cheers' or shouting a lullaby with voices that even a jester would have to give credit for. Searching the numerous tables, he didn't see the stranger from before, so he settled with sliding into a stool up front.

"Some milk, please," Thanuriel requested of the innkeeper. "I'd like it cold." His hands shuffled in his pockets, and he slapped out some coins that were clearly over the amount.

"Keep it." Thanuriel ordered and the innkeeper shrugged and snatched the money, off to grab his milk--an odd request they must have thought, but not so odd when they saw his face.

Perhaps Thanuriel didn't need a place to rest for the night, but he decided some milk wouldn't do him any harm. His peculiar appearance seemed to set off a man next to him, however.

"Ey, are you one of those demint thingies or whatever?" The man asked, clearly suspicious, tapping Thanuriel's shoulder in the process. He stifled some laughter; the man pronounced demon wrong, of all things. Perhaps beings such as him were not quite common knowledge in this town.

"No, no, not at all," Thanuriel lied smoothly. "I work and live in the woods, like an honest cat. I find some interesting items dropped in the woods now and then, and I sell those for money."

"Ah, well I was hoping I could find someone to help me and my family, with some extra gold." The man huffed, crossing his arms. "You know, work's hard to find, and we need clothes and stuff like that, and one woman can't do all the sewing."

Thanuriel nodded, gritting his teeth and keeping his face stern. He knew the man was a con artist--he could tell by his eyes, his posture. Everything about this man set him off.

"Well sir, if you please, I heard demons would only ask for your soul instead." Thanuriel countered, nodding his head towards the innkeeper that finally brought him his milk. It was slightly warm, but he decided not to argue.

"Eh, you don't say? But, even if you're not a demon, you'll help my family, won't you? You'll not ask for my soul, that's for sure."

Thanuriel's brows furrowed as he gripped his drink tightly, his claws slipping in and out. "I ask that you leave me alone, please. I work just as hard as you and I make the same amount of money as you. There's children starving in the streets who need clothes more than you, so you better scram and pay for them yourself or you're getting a beating." Thanuriel hissed, glaring at the man. The man instantly backed off, getting up and sitting back down at the opposite side of the room. He laughed inwardly; yes, perhaps he shouldn't threaten others yet Thanuriel received a bit of glee in indulging the con artists.

Perhaps something interesting would happen today, for once.
