The day finally arrived. Forrest Gump dies and goes to Heaven. He is at the Pearly Gates, met by St. Peter himself. However, the gates are closed, and Forrest approaches the gatekeeper. St. Peter said, 'Well, Forrest, it is certainly good to see you. We have heard a lot about you. I musttell you, though, that the place is filling up fast, and we have been administering an entrance examination for everyone. The test is short, but you have to pass it before you can get into Heaven.' Forrest responds, 'It sure is good to be here, St. Peter, sir. But nobody ever told me about any entrance exam. I sure hope that the test ain't too hard. Life was a big enough test as it was.' St. Peter continued, 'Yes, I know, Forrest, but the test is only three questions.
First: What two days of the weekbegin with the letter T?
Second: How many seconds are there in a year?
Third: What is God's first name?'
Forrest leaves to think the questions over. He returns the next day and sees St. Peter, who waves him up, and says, 'Now that you have had a chance to think the questions over, tell me your answers.' Forrest replied, 'Well, the first one -- which two days in the week begins with the letter 'T'? Shucks, that one is easy. That would be Today and Tomorrow.' The Saint's eyes opened wide and he exclaimed, 'Forrest, that is not what I was thinking, but you do have a point, and I guess I did not specify, so I will give you credit for that answer. How about the next one?' asked St. Peter. 'How many seconds in a year? Now that one is harder,' replied Forrest, 'but I thunk and thunk about that, and I guess the only answer can be twelve.' Astounded, St. Peter said, 'Twelve? Twelve? Forrest, how in Heaven's name could you come up with twelve seconds in a year?' Forrest replied, 'Shucks, there's got to be twelve: January 2nd, February 2nd, March 2nd... ' 'Hold it,' interrupts St. Peter. 'I see where you are going with this, and I see your point, though that was not quite what I had in mind....but I will have to give you credit for that one, too. Let us go on with the third and final question. Can you tell me God's first name'? 'Sure,' Forrest replied, 'it's Andy.' 'Andy?' exclaimed an exasperated and frustrated St Peter. 'Ok, I can understand how you came up with your answers to my first two questions, but just how in the world did you come up with the name Andy as the first name of God?' 'Shucks, that was the easiest one of all,' Forrest replied. 'I learnt it from the song,
ANDY WALKS WITH ME,
ANDY TALKS WITH ME,
ANDY TELLS ME I AM HIS OWN.'
St. Peter opened the Pearly Gates, and said: 'Run, Forrest, run.' Lord, Give me a sense of humor Give me the ability to understand a clean joke, To get some humor out of life,
If anyone sees this, note that Jesus truly is The Way, The Truth, and The Life.
1. There are thousands of different religions in the world, and in the vast majority of cases people follow the dominant faith of the culture they were born into. Is it not arrogant and self-centered to think that your faith is the "true" one and all the others are false?
Answer: No it isn???t because others also do it but ours is the true way, we also have proof of many of the things believed.
2. What is the point of prayer? Surely your god knows what you are going to pray for beforehand - and has already decided on his course of action. Is it not absurd to think that you can persuade god to change his mind?
Answer: Yes God knows what is going to happen but he wants us to pray to him to show him our love and devotion
3. Why does god insist that you worship him? Is he insecure - or an egomaniac?
Answer: God does not insist that we worship him but he is very happy when we do, he isn???t insecure or an egomaniac
4. Matthew 1:16 "And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus." Luke 3:23 "And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli." The bible is full of contradictions (for a large list see here) - explain how, even with just the small and fairly insignificant contradiction above, the bible can be the infallible word of god.
Answer: The two are different genealogies one from Mary???s side and the other is from Josephs side, the other thing is there are not contradictories it is from different peoples point of views, not everyone is going to remember and describe one event the same way now that would be ridiculous
5. Thomas Paine: "Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we called it the word of a demon that the Word of God. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind; and for my own part, I sincerely detest it, as I detest everything that is cruel." Please explain why the bible is referred to as the "good book".
Answer: Yes it has horrible and brutal parts in it but at least it is showing how real evil is it isn???t going to cover that up and make it some happy fairy tale. It is The Good Book because it shows us how we have made mistakes but it shows that God will still love us even if we make mistakes.
6. Thomas Paine was referring to the Old Testament in the above quote. Please explain why the god of the Old Testament (an angry, vengeful god, worthy of scorn not worship) - is so different from the god talked about in the New Testament.
Answer: In the Old Testament God is not a God worthy of scorning or a vengeful God, God does get angry with us sometimes but even then he is mostly sad not angry. It is the same God in both TESTAMENTS. He does not change there are parts in both New and Old Testament where God gets angry look at when he overthrows the vendors stations in the Temple it is not because he is completely mad though he is also filled with sadness, because they chose to turn it into like a shopping center.
7. (regarding creation)
a. "In the beginning God created the heaven and earth" ... what was god doing before "the beginning", and where did he reside?
Answer: The ???heavens??? is referring to outer space in that verse. There was a heaven in the sense where God was.
b. Explain how god made light, then separated light from darkness, BEFORE he had created the sun, moon and stars.
Answer: God is omnipotent (which means all powerful) I can not explain it, it???s God who did it, and it???s too great for us to understand.
c. Explain why "he made the stars also" - countless billions of them - at the end of the forth day, when it had taken him all of the previous time to work on just one small planet.
Answer: He made them so that we would have more light then just the moon. It didn???t take Him the other days just to work on our planet he created other planets the whole atmosphere. He took more time on earth because that is where He would place us, He made it perfect because He loves us.
d. "And God set them [the stars] in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth". We know that the stars are not set in anything, and they are rather more than just light-givers (particularly as most cannot even been seen from earth). Why is god so ignorant about his own creation?
Answer: They are set in the atmosphere it the literal sense and stars are nothing compared to the sun and the moon which is why they are not given as much description also he is not ignorant he is humble.
8. Thomas Paine: "When I am told that a woman called Mary said that she was with child without any co-habitation with a man, and that her betrothed husband Joseph said that an angel told him so [in a dream!] I have a right to believe them or not; such a circumstance requires a much stronger evidence than their bare word for it; but we have not even this - for neither Joseph nor Mary wrote any such matter themselves; it is only reported by others they said so - it is hearsay upon hearsay, and I do not choose to rest my belief upon such evidence." Please explain why you believe that Mary was a virgin mother.
Answer: God had given her a child that was conceived by the Holy Spirit isn???t that more believable then someone saying that we came from pond scum. If people can believe that with no solid evidence then how can you not believe this, this has more evidence then other things.
9. Please also explain why you believe that Jesus rose from the dead, and why the accounts in the bible of this event conflict.
Answer: I believe this because I put my faith in God who said it happened they don???t conflict they are different perspectives.
10. Jesus apparently died for us, facing god's wrath in our place. Why did he have to do this? Why couldn't god forgive us anyway? Why does god - a perfect being - have negative, human-based emotions like anger and wrath? Is not the whole concept absurd?
Answer: He didn???t Jesus decided to he made the decision for us so that we could live in eternity, He could forgive us but we just keep sinning so in order for us to be able to go to heaven someone perfect and blameless (Jesus) had to die in our place. He has some anger but that is due to us being so sinful, his wraith is out of love to us because he punishes us so that we don???t do the same thing over and over again, so that concept is absurd cause he doesn???t have the same negative feelings that we have they have different meanings then what we gave them.
11. Please attempt to justify eternal damnation. Surely even the most evil people who ever lived (Hitler, Stalin etc.) don't deserve to be horrifically punished for eternity (and I don't think many Christians have really thought about what eternity really is).
Answer: We all deserve to! The difference is that some of them like Hitler and other non-believers didn't chose to accept the offer Christ gave them so it is there fault.
A girl went to a party and she ended up staying longer than planned, and had to walk home alone. She wasn't afraid because it was a small town and she lived only a few blocks away. As she walked along under the tall elm trees, Diane asked God to keep her safe from harm and danger. When she reached the alley, which was a short cut to her house, she decided to take it. However, halfway down the alley she noticed a man standing at the end as though he were waiting for her. She became uneasy and began to pray, asking for God's protection. Instantly a comforting feeling of quietness and security wrapped round her, she felt as though someone was walking with her. When she reached the end of the alley, she walked right past the man and arrived home safely. The following day, she read in the newspaper that a young girl had been in the same alley just twenty minutes after she had been there and had been raped and murdered brutally. Feeling overwhelmed by this tragedy and the fact that it could have been her, she began to weep.Thanking the Lord for her safety and to help this young woman, she decided to go to the policice station. She felt she could recognize the man, so she told them her story. The police asked her if she would be willing to look at a lineup to see if she could identify him. She agreed and immediately pointed out the man she had seen in the alley the night before. When the man was told he had been identified, he immediately broke down and confessed. The officer thanked Diane for her bravery and asked if there was anything they could do for her. She asked if they would ask the man one question.Diane was curious as to why he had not attacked her. When the policeman asked him, he answered, "Because she wasn't alone. She had two tall men walking on both sides of her."Amazingly, whether you believe or not, you're never alone. Did you know that 98% of teenagers will not stand up for God? Repost this as if you truly believe in God.
