Armageddon Part 1

This is part 1 of a whole series of stories.

Annabelle Topper sat under the old oak tree as she scribbled in her big, blue note pad.
Her hair was beautiful, black and neat and was tied up in a cornflower blue bow, which matched her eyes. The humid wind made her hair sway about to and fro, to and fro.
She wiped away a drop of sweat from her forehead that was otherwise going to drip down her head, to her chin and then onto the note pad. As she had pale skin, that prevented her from staying in the sun much. When she went outside (which was often) she would spend it mostly under the shade of a tree or a swing set.
Her light blue top and white mid-length skirt ruffled in the humid breeze, every time it passed her. Annabelle was 15 years old and lived in a two story house shared by her sister Jacqueline and her 3 brother, Thomas, Zachariah, GJ and her Mum. Her Dad died when she was only 7. She was the oldest of all her sibling which made them (in her eyes) and incredible pain in the butt.
Annabelle (or AB as her friends called her) was a very timid and shy person, that didn???t talk a lot. She was an excellent Tennis and Cricket player and loved to go down to the beach and have swim with her best friend, Lileah.

???AB???, called Lileah. ???Come on AB.??? Annabelle quickly rushed to Lileah. She had a sudden feeling that something Lileah was going to say was bad.
???What, what is it Li???? ???GJ, he???s shirt got caught on a branch and he tripped and fell into the rapids.??? ???He???s heading straight towards the falls.??? ???Oh man.???
???Here AB, hop on the pegs and we???ll ride there.??? Annabelle hopped on the pegs of the bike and the rode off to the rapids. When they arrived, they couldn???t find GJ anywhere.
???GJ, GJ WHERE ARE YOU???? She looked around the water and then Annabelle caught a glimpse of GJ???s necklace that shone into her cornflower blue eyes. Bad thoughts came into her head of what might have happened to GJ.
???He must have gone over,??? someone said, so Annabelle and Lileah rushed down the bank to see if GJ was there, and there he was. Sitting on the edge of the water with a wild look in his eyes that could shatter mirrors, ???Can I do it again!?!?!???? screamed GJ.
???You are a complete idiot,??? Annabelle exclaimed in great anger. ???What???? GJ looked stunned. He never seen is older sister so, so, angry in his entire life. ???You are coming back to the house RIGHT now and you are going to tell mum why you are drenched and smell like a wet dog.??? ???Okay, okay. Sheesh, calm down AB, it was just a little waterfall.???
Annabelle looked at the waterfall that gushed out with dirty, foaming water.
???It???s only about 4 meters high??? she thought. Annabelle felt very embarrassed at screaming at GJ. ???Still, GJ???s only 6 years old, he can barely swim.???
???Um, AB, I gotta go home. I have homework to do and my mum expected me back 10 minutes ago. Sorry, bye,??? and with that Lileah hopped back on her bike and rode off home. ???Come on GJ.??? Annabelle said quietly, ???Let???s go home and have a wash. You smell like the trash can in old Muller???s backyard.??? GJ laughed. Annabelle laughed and they went back to their house.

On the way there a sudden gust of wind came along. Then thunder. Then lightning, all so sudden, all so frightening. GJ???s face turned scared. Annabelle tried to hide her fear of thunder and lightning behind her shiny black hair which had fallen out of the ponytail when she rode to the rapids. But she knew all too well, she was deathly afraid of lightning. Why?
When she was 7 she and her Dad were walking home from the candy store when a she heard thunder. Her and her Dad sheltered in the bus stop until the storm stopped. When the storm stopped (or so they thought) they started walking on that path again. Then suddenly CRACK. Her Dad fell to the ground with no pulse. She ran to the house that she was closest to and called for help but it was too late. Her Dad was dead. That night she cried and didn???t stop crying, for she knew she???ll never see her Dad again. GJ was only 7 months when that happened so he still doesn???t know about the whole thing.

???Come on GJ,??? Annabelle said sweetly. ???We???ll go under that bus shelter until the storm seizes.??? Still scared, GJ and Annabelle went to the shelter. ???Let???s just hope the same thing won???t happen again.??? she mumbled to herself. ???What was that Anna???? Annabelle replied, ???Oh nothing.???
