The Dragon

The winds howl
as the dragon flys across the moon
firey red, velvet wings
the dragon lands.
The dawn comes
flashes of fire
burst from the dragon
as the sky illuminates in light.
The dragon sleeps
the slayer comes
sword drawn, pointed down
ready to plunge.
The dragon awakes
rises from his nest
pauses then flexes
breathes the flame of death.
The dragon flies once again
wings spread wide
moonlight glitters upon the red
seeks once more the dragons bed
