The drizzle has got heavier and it is now Raining in Marada. In the past, the rain has sadly developed into the destructive Storm Maranormous but it can also turn into a beautiful Rainbow. As always, whenever there is Rain in Marada the following happens:

The rain has brought with it stronger winds, causing the Windmill to spin faster and generate more electricity. You will be guaranteed to gain a stat for your pet from it and all electricity bills will be FREE at the Power Station.

Completing a level on any Mission during this rain and you'll win a random Umbrella for your Wardrobe.


The Books, CDs, DVDs and Video Game Shops all have a 2 for 1 special on all items to help you keep your pets entertained inside while it rains.

The rain has made the Lake in Lush Lake flood. For your own safety, you cannot currently visit.

With Lush Lake flooded from the rain, the Coffee, Contact Lenses, Hair Dye, Lipsticks and Olympic Shops are all closed.

With the miserable rainy weather outside, pets are concentrating better at School, the Gym, Elite Gym and University and earning Double Stats.

Pets are all working harder at their jobs as it rains outside. This means there is TRIPLE the chance of receiving a Job Promotion random event and DOUBLE the chance of the promotion actually being given by your pet's boss!

While you wait for the bad weather to pass, why not play our Classic Games? Complete a Jigsaw Puzzle while it's raining and you are guaranteed to win a Bonus Prize which now includes one of 18 new Jigsaw Puzzle toys! This rain has the residents of Marada doing a lot more indoor activities, like Shopping. But it also is a chance for Shopkeepers like you to increase your shop sales and the amount of items you have on sale! Upgrading your Shop Size is currently Half Price!

And finally, Queen Eleka will be giving out extra FREE Loyalty Raffle Tickets for players who fill up and price their own Shops. While she won't reveal her secret formula, the more new items you add and price in your Shop, the more extra tickets she will give out!

The Costumes Boutique has the Rainy Costume on sale

There are currently 16 pets that can wear the Rainy Costume

The Rainy Costume automatically stocks here whenever there is a Rain weather event and stays on sale until the weather changes. If another Account Upgrades Costume was due to stock here on a specific day during this weather event, it will stock instead for that day only and return to the Rainy Costume the following day.

The traps left outside the Power Station have been cleared and the workers have returned. They are working their hardest to restore power to Marada and expect the Blackout to end at midnight.

The best thing about this unexpected Blackout is that the darkness has filled the skies with stars! This has helped the Stars Shop, now under new management, to update the last 33 items with old art to their new design.

Introducing the new and improved... Costume Boutique

The Costume Shop has been replaced with the new Costume Boutique. Over the past 16 years we've released over 7,000 different pet colours - 78 species of pet and 206 different costumes! The first item ever added to MaraPets was the Blue Costume and for the first few years of us being open, there were always some costumes in stock at the costume shop. Fast forward sixteen years and the shop is pretty much always empty and making it stock more items only crashes the prices, making the costume easier to get but no longer wanted. The 'restocking' shop model that works well for the other 100+ shops on here does not work well for Costumes.We have therefore changed the shop to the new Costume Boutique. It has all of the benefits of being random and rarer costumes showing up less often but now it will be a fixed price and accessible to all! There are 151 Costumes that have been added to the Costume Boutique, organised into 4 different groups - 19 Colour Costumes, 9 Standard Costumes, 9 Premium Costumes and 114 Account Upgrades Costumes. Every day, a new costume is randomly selected from the Prize List to be sold here for that day only.

One of these 9 Premium Costumes will be selected at random each month, to be on sale for one random day in the month for a fixed price of either MP BP or RP. You will only know what costume is on sale at the shop on the day you visit. You will not be told when a costume is back on sale here or if it will be on sale for MP, BP or RP. There are 9 Standard Costumes and four of these will be selected at random each month. Each of the four selected will be on sale for a different, random day of the month and will be sold for a fixed price of either MP BP or RP. There will also be new costumes in the future added to the Costume Boutique. There are also 114 Costumes there were released as Account Upgrades Sets over the past 16 years. Although we continue to release one or two Account Upgrade sets per month, releasing new costumes hasn't really been an option while there are SO many that aren't avaliable - it would take another 12 years+ to release them all again this way. To help with bringing some of these back automatically, the Costume Boutique also randomly selects two of these costumes each month to be on sale here for £4 Account Upgrade Credits. Each costume will only be on sale for one day of the month and this will be selected at random. This means that only 24 out of 114 of these costumes will be sold for only 24 of the 365 days in a year - it should still keep them rare and limited, without making them unattainable. Any day that a Premium, Standard or Account Upgrades Costume is not on sale at the Costume Boutique there will be one of 19 Coloured Costumes on sale instead. Like the Premium and Standard Costumes, the currency required will be randomly selected to cost MP BP or RP and the prices are fixed and shown on the Prize List. ›Read the full news
