Death Hike in Yosemite

29th May 2007 18:21 Here is me version of it since me Dad has told it enough:
The day started off like any other day that I hiked with Dad (Uncle John was there also). We took the bus to Happy Isles where me dad went to the restroom. John put two extra bottles of water into me dad's backpack. We both laughed and didn't tell me dad when he came back.
Then we walked to the mini-hike to the part where you could get to different hikes. We then went up the Mist Trail. I had me dad put me glasses into a glasses case so they wouldn't get wet. I was half-blind and water was coming down on me. The rocks were also slippery. But the good thing was that I was kept cool by the mist. That was the best part of the hike!
Then we got to the top of Vernal Falls. We spent some time there. Me dad mistook a Stellar's Jay for a Blue Jay. Then we came to where we could choose from two paths. Me dad (being the engineer that he was) decided the the path which was the shorter one was the one to take (it was harder than the Mist Trail). While during this part me dad found the extra water bottles John had put in his backpack.
You know the part in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King where Frodo, Sam, and Gollum/Smeagol were going to see Shelob? That's the type of stairs these were (at least part of the time). We reached the top of Nevada Falls and took a break. The view was way worth the effort!
We then went down the John Muir Trail. Then I took a potty break at the bottom and we went back on the mini-trail to catch the bus.
It was 8 miles total.
