I wanted to figure out if I could plot a chart that describes how much profit you'll make ranging on how much MP you start with.
The results are based off the Haunted House quest specifically. This is due to the multiple different factors in each quest.
I started this by getting some base values from the Haunted House Quest.
================
After 50 Quests
Cheapest Item: 53
Most Expensive Item: 9500
================
After 50 Quests
Highest MP Rewarded: 7345
Lowest MP Rewarded: 506
================
After listing the crystals in my shop
Highest Price: 13570
Lowest Price: 6994
================
Notes: 1 in X chance for 25kMP but no crystals (I set this value at a pretty generous 35 for this experiment..
After collecting this data, I scripted a little program to simulate completing haunted house quests. This didn't take long at all, it was quite easy.
How the simulation works is you'll input a starting amount of MP and click go! A whole heap of information will appear and that's it!
Here is a quick screen shot of what I mean using 100,000,000 MP!

Using this *very inaccurate simulation* I had run each simulation once. I noted down the starting MP and Overall Profit. I started this at 100,000 MP and finished at 1,000,000 MP, moving in 100K increments giving me 10 data points for a line chart.
This is that line chart here...

Now, you'll notice that it isn't exactly what you probably though you'd see. You would be thinking that it would be a semi-straight line going in one direction, up. Simply because the more money you spend, the more crystals you'll get as well as reward mp, meaning more profit in the end. Right? Well yes, I guess. The issue with this graph is that the results aren't exactly the most accurate.
Here are a couple of things that weren't factored in
- Price Changes on selling the crystals.
- Improper reward system (the 25K random reward wasn't calculated correctly as I didn't know the real change %)
- Buy prices for the items in each quest are completely random, sometimes items are cheaper at their default shops, this isn't factored in.
There are many more I can guarantee. But I'm not here to give you reasons why this failed lol.
So, in theory (and most likely practically) yes, the more MP you start with, the more MP you'll likely end up making after questing for hours on end. Here are raw numbers if you want to see some data for yourself.
======================================
RUN 1 @ 100K
======================================
Time Taken: 2 Minutes 12 seconds
Overall Profit: 28,949
======================================
RUN 2 @ 200K
======================================
Time Taken: 5 minutes 19 seconds
Overall Profit: 77,319
======================================
RUN 3 @ 300K
======================================
Time Taken: 7 minutes 20 seconds
Overall Profit:120,596
======================================
RUN 4 @ 400K
======================================
Time Taken: 9 minutes 10 seconds
Overall Profit: 63,631
======================================
RUN 5 @ 500K
======================================
Time Taken: 11 minutes 55 seconds
Overall Profit: 179,987
======================================
RUN 6 @ 600K
======================================
Time Taken: 13 minutes 45 seconds
Overall Profit: 162,901
======================================
RUN 7 @ 700K
======================================
Time Taken: 14 minutes 29 seconds
Overall Profit: 137,877
======================================
RUN 8 @ 800K
======================================
Time Taken: 25 minutes 29 seconds
Overall Profit: 510,368
======================================
RUN 9 @ 600K
======================================
Time Taken: 21 minutes 16 seconds
Overall Profit: 280,659
======================================
RUN 10 @ 1M
======================================
Time Taken: 25 minutes 29 seconds
Overall Profit: 435,876
Note: The time taken thing, that's based off an average of 11 seconds per quest. So for every quest that is completed, 11 seconds is added to the clock.
In this table of data you'll see the discrepancies in why the line chart is wonky. I feel this is due to the fact that when the simulation ran, it got unlucky with expensive items in the quest, on top of low mp rewards and crystal sell prices.
The same can be seen on the opposite end of the scale with cheap items in the quest, high mp rewards and high crystal sell prices.
To get a more accurate result, it would really only take more time collecting data from the quest and running much more simulations, and simply refining it down until you have the closest average you can achieve.
All in all it was a lot of fun and I did enjoy doing this.
If anybody wants any of the materials I used such as the source code to the simulation or any of the resources I used feel free to MM me and I can let you know! (Source Code will be on paste bin)
I also just realized the application name is MarapestQuest lmao rip.
Yes, you are also correct to say this is excessive. But it's fun and I'm filling in time while I'm home, with nothing better to do
