I bought a piece of carrot cake today and I was sitting there thinking about how all my holiday celebrations in the past years have come down to one central focus point, one thing that takes me back to more extravagant celebrations. It's so unexpected how certain aspect of your life just start to dissolve that you thought would be there forever. Every Easter I remember my mom would make me and my brother up a huge Easter basket with lots of chalk and bubbles and nobody forgot the iconic chocolate bunny. The neighborhood would spend what seemed like years hiding the eggs while all us kids tried to get a peak out the window. After we were free to tip over planter, climb trees, anything to find the egg. At home she would make it a point of having an Easter dinner. Equipped with all the sides you needed to make it proper. At the end there was always a carrot cake with cream cheese icing. We would all have it together and everything seemed happier. Cherish the time you get with your family and friends this Easter weekend. Make memories and celebrate because you never know when you with be celebrating with just a memory.
