Hello! It's Neko here and I'm not sure if I'm in a position to be handing out tips and stuff, but I'm doing so regardless. Everything is a bit messy at the moment . . . so! Welcome xD
RULES
First off the rules, now these are important, so make sure you check them out. For now, check out this forum:

I'll make a list of my own later in the topic when I'm not so tired.
MOVING UP
Are you worried about moving up to intermediate? Here are some tips
~Don't be afraid to move up from basic. Have some faith in your own ability.
~Worried about spelling? Write it in 'Word' and spell-check it. Then copy and paste it. It may be time consuming but it ensures no spelling mistakes.
~Re-read before you post. I know the feeling of just typing to my heart's content, which is great. However, it's best if you read over it a few times to make sure it flows and makes sense.
~If you're really serious, open another window and have a thesaurus website up. I do suggest you don't overdo it or there will be too many words that you won't understand. It's best used for overused, boring words such as 'small.'
~Practise! I always get practise and practice messed up, but I'm not just talking about the word. Why not act like your rping on intermediate when on basic, or 1x1? It'll help you make it a habit
~This one may sound strange, but why not read a few books? It'll help, I assure you.
~Don't be afraid! The people there are just normal mara users like you and me, they won't bite, they just want to have fun Also, if you have an idea of a plot, don't pass it of as silly. Try it out, what's the worst that can happen? Nobody posts on it. That is the absolute worst and I've never had it happen to me. Most people love original plots that aren't 'heard it all before.'
~When moving to intermediate, don't make a board asking if 'You're ready,' just trust that you're ready. If you really do want someone to check it, there are usually other boards where that's all they do, check an example of your work.
PLOTS
Okay, so when creating a plot remember the rules! No romance, high school, everyday life, sleepovers etc. There seem to be a lot of those rulebreakers. . . Ok, as I've already stated, try and think of something original. It's okay if you want to do an over-used idea, they're the old classics most people love, but people will more likely join unique plots. I don't think there's any problem with doing rps based off shows, movies, books etc. try to give it your own touch though, and you don't have to have the original characters or anything. I'm an offender of this one; when typing your plot, don't get lazy, imagine it's the blurb of a book and it's introducing the feel of the story. It is important. An example of being lazy is 'So it's set in Konoha but everyone's a demon' (that's just a random example by the way) Also, try not to centre the whole thing around your character and try to give a lot of types of characters other people can be.
1X1
One on Ones are were you rp over maramail. They still have to stick to the 'no romance etc' rules, but they may be more fun. Why not take Termminated's lead and create a board where people can post requests for 1x1. He gives an excellent explanation so why not check out his board? (It's on intermediate by the way) It's here:

RULES
(haven't we already had this one?)
No, not marapets rules(They are important though). The rules you set up for the rp.
If there is something you do/don't want people doing, list it, because otherwise, I'm sure somebody will do it. Don't just presume it won't happen. Regardless, it's good to be on the safe side.
OKAY! WE'RE DONE! Seriously
*phew* That was a lot of typing. This is just a guide of what I think is important. Feel free to post your own opinions and keeping this topic up would be excellent because of all my hard work
Post your own tips, they will be appreciated
Sorry, but I'm dreadfully tired and didn't edit it. If I seem like a hypocrite, don't shoot me Also, sorry if they seem dreadfully obvious, just trying to be helpful
Thank you
