my little benji-bird

2nd Dec 2008 00:38 On August 29th, 2007... I was very blessed with a beautiful, healthy, fat and pink bundle of joy that I named Benjamin. Benjamin means "Left hand of God". I was in labor for 3 days, and due to extreme, and rare complications, he almost didn't make it to his own birth. After an emergency c-section, and 3 other surgerys later, I woke up in a recovery room. Nurses informed me that during my last surgery, I stopped breathing, and my temperature dropped to 94.1. I was hooked up to a lot of tubes, and I was afraid of what they were NOT telling me. Was I still pregnant? Where was my baby boy I was supposed to have? I couldn't talk at first. Finally one nurse noticed that I was crying. She told me that I would be able to go to my hospital room and see my family soon.
I remember very little about the next few hours. But the one thing I'll never forget was the look in my mom's eyes. She had tears streaming down her face. On top of all my blankets and tubing, right on top of my chest she laid down a tiny little bundle, all wrapped up in a blue blanket and wearing the teeniest blue hat. She said to me, "Benjamin is here, Meghan. He's right here. And the doctor said he's healthy..." And then she started to cry more, and she kissed my forehead, and I started to cry, too.
He was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. He still is, of course.
Yes, I'm a single mother. I work very hard in my "real" life, at my "real" job, so that Benji never has to want for anything. To be quite honest, he's spoiled rotten! He has everything he could ever need or want. And he deserves it! He's my angel, my gift from God. An absolute miracle.
