a dog sits waiting
in the hot midday sun
too faithful to leave
too frightened to run

he???s been there for days now
with nothing to do
but sit by the road
just waiting for you

he can???t understand
why you left him that day
he thought you were stopping
to take him to play

he???s sure you???ll come back
and that???s why he stays
how long can he suffer?
how many more days?

his legs have grown weak
his throat???s parched and dry
he???s sick now from hunger
he falls with a sigh

he lays down his head
and closes his eyes
i wish you could see
how a waiting dog dies

0 johnnybgoodeyes bobbye sadly it does i've no doubt it will only get worse just as it always does as the christmas season approaches ever nearer therefore it is now more than ever that people need to be vigilant and keep an eye out for neglected or abandoned animals thank you all for your comments so far

0 kleoh08Johnny, i love animals. i have 6 cats, 4 turtles, and 3 dogs. i hate the fact that people treat animals that way and sometimes i just want to well, i hate it. I just wanted to ask you one more time what i did wrong because i have no clue. please maramail me back.

0 laviniaioana124I love animals so much,but sadly i live in a small town where people treat animals like nothing and there is no animal police here. I had a dog,too,she was 5 years old and one day she was hit by a car and died.I miss her much,now i cant take another dog,it just reminds me of her.It is sad that so many people abuse animals and lots of dogs and cats die the way Keyty(my dog)did. R.I.P Keyty,i will never forget you.

0 DelylerThat is so sad I used to have a dog and two cats but they were run over by cars.When i saw that i just had to read on and it made my think about my pets. it is so sad that people treat animals with such disrespect it makes me cry R.I.P Sammie,Billie and Bruno I will never forget you.

0 johnnybgoodeah man - here i find myself another one what a nice posting to put on a blog about animal abuse BiGsMiLeY123 - i have absolutely no idea who you are and from that one post that you made i can only say that i am very thankful that i don't - just a shame for you i guess that i NEVER delete comments posted on my blog simply because i'm open to critisism and am comfortable enough with myself to take it - if players like you want to go ahead and make total idiots of yourselves then it ain't my place to stop you none - yeah you can come along and delete your comment but hey it doesn't alter the fact that it's already been seen - you can delete your comment but you can't delete your lack of intelligence or humanity - i wish you good luck in your life and with the attitude that you have i kinda think you're gonna be needing it ****** to all other players: i apologise for that rant but hey - this blog is a tribute to all animals who have suffered and to those that still are - i can't help but feel comments such as hers warranted a response

0 Iloveblue25you are so right. people treat animals badly.it's like they buy then for vanity, so they have something to brag.the poem is great. I have dogs and a cat at home. I had a mixed breed dog named roger, he's my real best friend. i use to talk to him, i knew hes listening and in the morning he waits for me to ride on a vehicle before he ran back home.at lunch time when he see me at the street walking home he would come running. then one they i came home my sister was crying she told me that he had died. i felt like my tears were stock on my eyes it wont fall. I don't know what too say.i know he waited for me, i know he wanted to say goodbye.

0 SharuottoninjaI agree with the poem completely ... I never see stray pets near my house because no-one near me would ever buy a pet without wanting to keep it but, when I went shopping last month, I saw a critically ill dog outside the shops and people where just ignoring it and walking by without giving it a second thought. I made sure it got to the local animal shelter though. Also, I once saw an ill bird (It had also lost a wing when a cat attacked it) that I took to the vets strate away. I've had 2 dogs before and both where from an addoption center. R.I.P Benji and Buttons (along with my gerbils (paula and scratch), my sisters dead rabbit, all my tropical fish and all other animals that have died)

57 __spyi've actually taken in 3 stray cats and a dog. plus two other cats that would have gone to a shelter and a dog. they're all now safe and indoors out of the cold.. i cant walk by an injured animal without giving it my all to help it. this poem means a lot, both of my dogs unconditionally stand by my side.
